I find carbonation incredibly incredibly painful. If I drink soda, I have to flatten it. Is anyone else like this? I wonder if it's a sensory thing. Other people don't seem like they're in such bad pain!

No. I used to drink diet drinks by the bucketful, but decided to stop drinking them since they are mostly chemicals anyway. Now I drink flavored seltzer water, which I like very much. I like the bubbly tartness of it.

Must be a sensory thing/hypersensitive mouth/gums etc because that's not common at all. People drink pop/soda/beer/champagne etc all the time and enjoy it.. it doesn't cause most people any pain whatsoever.

I've never liked drinking carbonated beverages. The sensation of the bubbles inside the mouth is weird and they seem to burn. I'd stir it and bump the glass on the table until the bubbles were gone. I haven't had a soft drink in years.

I consider myself somewhat addicted to Monster Energy or Venom drinks. I don't drink them anymore, but when I see them I crave them big time. When I did drink them, I loved having them.

I feel somewhat similar about Mountain Dew, but Mountain Dew pales in comparison with Monster Energy.

It was incredibly painful for me when I was a child. I refused to drink it.
It wasn't until I was an older adult that I was able to tolerate it and found that the painful bubbles were kind of enjoyable with pizza. But only with pizza.

The carbonic acid gives a strong burning sensation, but
sometimes I like it for the pain. It kind of wakes me up and makes me feel more alive and less numb.
My favorite is 7-Up. It seems fairly strong, but I actually drink soda very rarely.

I like 7-Up, Ginger Ale and stuff like that. Carbonated water is good too. All of it gives me gas though, like, really bad at times. I drink a lot of ginger ale when I'm not feeling good, it tends to help my stomach.

I stay away from caffeine and energy drinks like the plague. My body does not react well to them in the slightest.

I used to have difficulty with carbonated drinks until I was about 8-9 years old. Then I got hooked :(

Yes, to a seriously unhealthy degree. I've tried kicking the habit a few times with mixed results. It's difficult for me to differentiate whether the draw for me is sensory or just the caffeine (though I suppose they're not mutually exclusive).

I love sweet, carbonated drinks. I need a little sweetness in a sour world. :D :P

I've always been disgusted by bubbles in drinks. When drinking milk or juice, I usually have to pop all the bubbles before I can drink it. With hot chocolate, I have to push back the bubbles at the front of the cup to create a space for me to drink from. Oddly though, I'm fine with bubbles in soda.

It was too painful, when I was a kid - a little less, when I was a teen, - ad now I can drink it in modest amounts sometimes, but it hurts like the mint in toothpaste. Brushing my teeth allways hurt,so my eyes are watering.
So I´m not the only one with a hypersensitive mouth, I guess.

I've never had problems with carbonated drinks. I love them. In fact I'm drinking coke as I'm reading this thread right now!

I quite like them, but I don't bother much these days because the other ingredients tend to be unhealthy. No sensory problems with the bubbles though.
