Just wondering if people have any specific quirks or habits that they have in their lives?
do you avoid doing certain things or using certain things or do you need a ritual, eat at the certain time of day ect?
I'm really curious about this.

I have odd quirks, I avoid shopping centers and public transportation, I don't like public transport, I prefer being in a car. Also I like to have my tea around 5pm, no reason I just don't like to eat too close from lunch .
I do food shopping in the evenings in a supermarket but I won't go to a shopping center, all those floors and shops and crowds, I hate lifts and escalators because of my inner ear infection, affected my balance and these things make me feel giddy and weird, so I can't use anything that I stand on, that moves beneath me plus I hate crowds, adds to the vertigo. I detest it.

Anyone else, avoids or hates certain things? or has a specific routine they like to stick too?

Oh god yes, many, many of them. One of mine is also tea at 5pm, I just don't enjoy it if it isn't at that time. I also have to walk my dogs at least 5 times a day or I get incredibly agitated. I actually have some really comical ones that others laugh at, for example the order I eat foods and the inability to leave an item on it's own.

Yes, I have. Yes, I avoid certain things, and like to do things in a certain way.

@ welshwolf2015 and Sherry221b

I'm glad i'm not the only one, some things I've always been particular about but other things are brought on by anxiety and are new things, since my labyrinitis, I avoid certain things that act as triggers and makes things worse.

But the tea thing at a certain time has always been one of them, I used to avoid the hair dryer as a kid because I didn't like it and now it no longer bothers me.
My family calls it "awkwardtism" in a jokey way.my brother has severe autism and has certain rituals, he has to do resteps and repeat what he does several times, it's a bit like OCD.

@welshwolf, five walks a day! you must be very active
@sherry221b cool, me too!

:D Quite active yes. But this brings on a lot of anxiety for me because I'm not at all good around people so I have to avoid areas where there is lots of people. Guess that's the joys of being this way, stressed if you do stressed if you don't.

Yes, I know about that kind of anxiety. I know these things are not uncommon; I have read about it. Hairdryers are bothersome....

welsh wolf 2015.I'd guess these things are more common then realised, do you go for walks at specific times so you're less likely to go anywhere that's crowded? I can relate to the anxiety issue. :)

@ Sherry221b I'm glad to hear that this things aren't uncommon. Do you dislike hairdryers as well? I used to go mental over them apparently... :D

Yes, I hate hairdryers. I hate crowds too, and all narrow places.

I'm lucky that I live in a rather quiet area, so most of the time it's ok. Summer time can get a bit stressful when more people are out. I just tend to avoid them, unless they talk to me. Then I just turn into a bumbling idiot and make them feel uncomfortable :D

I have OCD so I do a lot of cleaning, washing, organising, arranging, repeatedly.

I have repetitive behaviours such as watching the same video clip (usually off Youtube) many times a day for several weeks. I also line things up, organise them into alphabetical order (and if anyone ruins it I completely go mad). I listen to the same song over and over again, up to 30 times in one go.

I have rituals for most things, especially showering (everything has to be done in a special order) and eating (I either eat just one food in a large quantity for a meal, or if I have to eat a mixture of foods, I will eat them one by one, in a special order).

I have walking routines where I have to walk in certain patterns on certain parts of the streets. I cannot use public transport alone so I walk the whole way when I need to somewhere, anything up to 5 miles, unless I'm with a support worker.

I don't know if I have quirks, I'll ask my dad.

@welshwoof2015 You're lucky to live in a quite area, summer time can be a pain! I hate summers anyway due to the heat as well as the crowds, prefer spring due to these reasons.

@Sherry221b crowds and narrow places are a pain, very claustrophobic. I hate it when people are too up close and personal when it comes to crowds, feel sick and dizzy from it at times.

@Steelmaiden you sound very organised, have heard that ocd can be linked to aspergers.
Wish I was that organised, although tidy i'm not organised at times. It's an easy habit to develop that, watching the same videos online as well as listening to music. I hate public transport but like you, it's better to go with someone then on your own.

Thank you all for responding to my posts, glad i'm not the only one with specific rituals and habits. :D

I like to keep my shelves alphabetized and i stay away from crowded areas like supermarkets. I also go to bed at the same exact time every night and if i am off by even a minute i get upset.

I like walking around my room listening to music and I can't seem to stop this bad habit.

I must have a shower in the morning before I do anything else. I can't do public transport, apart from the tube in London, don't know why but I love the tube. I cannot do buses at all though. I tend to latch onto a song and will listen to it 100s of times in the car when I'm driving over the course of a week or two, then I'll go back to the radio for awhile and then get another song. There's a lot more.
