And this being based solely on someones observations of you. This happened to me when I was in seventh grade.

My dad looking for an answer as to why grades had gone down the toilet and why I had become more withdrawn and tempermental, decided on a whim that drugs were the answer. So two days before thanksgiving my dad dragged me off to the hospital and made me take a piss test, which of course came out clean.

It took him years to get over that hunch.

Yes - although I was a little bit younger and I was completely not into drugs either. I remember the pediatrician talking to me about how bad drugs were and I was agreeing because I figured that was what I was supposed to do. I didn't even really understand why he was talking about it - and then it was mentioned about me and my behavior. Even then it took a few minutes to put two and two together.

I think it actually is an easier thing for some people to believe than that the person has "mental" issues.

It took him years to get over the mistake he made ? or years to believe you were clean?

My parents never came out and accused me of being on drugs but I was sent to a drug counselor when they mistakenly believed I attempted suicide in 7th grade. Ironically I didn't try pot until I started counseling.
I was always withdrawn and uncommunicative (for specific reasons) and I was always dealing with some social outcast issue at school and home. But in 7th grade, my grades got worse, I started befriending the "wrong" girl and got in trouble for smoking cigarettes. In a yes/no question in health class, I answered that pot should be okay/legalized. This was in the early 80's and my mom was called into school.
I didn't realize it was one of those obedience training lessons where you are just supposed to answer according to their beliefs, not your own intelligence. I got in trouble for that.

I knew of a guy that had Cerebral Palsy and was accused of being strung out and having DTs by a traffic court judge.

My ex used to say my paranoia was comparable with that of someone on drugs.

She wasn't a very understanding soul.

Yes, many times. My brothers call me a "crack addict", and during my classes I would constantly be asked if I was high by my fellow students. In the words of a boy in my history class, "Krissy, Lay off the puffy puffy smoky smoky!" Where I live drugs are very common, and almost everyone comes to school high. I always crack up when someone mentions drugs because I hate them, and I will never try them. My screen name "Twilight" is a nickname people gave me, because i always act like I'm twilighted on drugs.

1) Driving at night, I miss a speed limit post. Oops. It turned out there were some bushes in the way, but whatever.

2) Cop pulls me over. Just my luck. You know, if it weren't for all the bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all.

3) Cop shines light in my eyes. Hey, stop that! You know, that's just plain disrespectful.

4) Cop asks me if I've been doing drugs or makes some allusion thereof.

5) Just coffee.

6) Cop writes me a speeding ticket, talking like he's doing me some huge favor for which I should feel immensely grateful.

7) What a jerk.

Furthermore, the ladies at the service station used to look at me skeptically and ask the same question. I think it's because my eyes don't dilate normally. I have limited semi-conscious control over it from spending hours practicing in front of a mirror, and I think that's what does it. Sometimes it responds to my frame of mind instead of to the light.

I've always had terrible dark circles under my eyes, so people often thought I was a druggie. I didn't hang out with many people in school so I barely knew anything about drugs, let alone how to get them even if I wanted to.

How did you get rid of them?

I actually haven't...so people probably still think I'm a druggie. 8O
I used to try using makeup to cover them up but I never found anything that worked worth a darn so I gave up on that. I don't wear contacts anymore because my eyes are too sensitive, but it's actually nice that my glasses cover up the dark circles somewhat so I'm not as self-conscious about them.

I wear glasess at home cotacts out. I'm just self concious about having something hanging off my face. I wonder what you thought caused it?

I don't really like having to wear glasses because they always hurt me behind my ears and I'm always fidgeting with them to try to make them comfortable. But that's better than my eyes burning from contacts.

As for the dark circles, I'm not really sure why I have them so bad. A lot of times people say you get them because of allergies, but I've never really had allergies. My mom has them too so it's probably somewhat genetic. Too bad she passed on her upper eyelid eczema to me too! Another good reason to cover my eyes with glasses.

When I was in eighth grade a teacher told my cousin he thought I was on drugs and needed serious help based only on how I dressed and because I was "antisocial".

Also around the same time I tried alcohol for the first time and was dumb enough to leave out the bottle around. My mother found it and was convinced I was an alcoholic and that must be what all my probs were. When I told her I couldn't be an alchoholic as it was the first time I'd ever had any, she screamed, "Denial is the fist stage!" She was also convinced all through my high school years that I was on all sorts of drugs, but the worst I ever did then was smoke cigarettes.

Alot of kids at school thought I was on some serious drugs.

I only had drinks on very rare occassions in high school that I could count on (less than) one hand. I actually many times refused drinks as I wasn't that interested then and was around pot smokers but never touched the stuff until I was about 20.

I went to a place once as a junior in HS where I was the only one NOT using or drinking -just sitting in the corner by myself with my cigarettes. And I was supposedly the one who was the drugged out weirdo.

**Also, as a side note, I too have horrible dark circles under my eyes and always have. In HS there were also some sure that someone was beating me because of my "black eyes".. Do u think this is common with us or.. ??

Drugs are probably the dumbest things ever invented. I mean, who's idea was it to smoke leaves?

My mom used to ask me all the time. I'd just say, "Search my room. You won't find anything."

Wow, I never had anyone think they were black eyes. People have thought someone was beating me because of all the bruises I always have on my body since I'm so clumsy though. :?
