What kind of repetitive behaviours do you have, if any?

My favoured repetitive behaviour (that I've noticed, anyway) is to pick up things like DVD cases, spectacle cases or those car keys you can unfold with the press of a button, and to keep opening and closing them until I have to make a conscious effort to tear myself away, I'm so fascinated by it.

I do find it very soothing to do these things, though, so maybe that's why I do it so much.

Anyone else have similar habits?

I am always stimming. I think it makes other people nervous/confused. I feel embarrassed about making other people nervous, but at the same time, part of the reason I stim constantly is because other people make me nervous.

I bang my hands on the desks all the time at school, and I tend to swing my legs when I am sitting. I also rub the fabric of my clothing.

Pacing is my worst one
Energetic hand moment
Noises/sayings
Following patterns on table/clothing/carpets with my fingers.
I do the opening and closing things.
Pressing the spark button on the cooker (auto-stim :D )

I probably don't realise half of them. I never really liked crutches. For me stims are not crutches, they are like an feeling sometimes uncontrollable. Next time you worry about your stims think of NTs and the extraordinary thing they will do to ‘belong’

Scratching, picking zits, scabs etc etc etc. Scratching scalp. Used to pull hairs out when I was younger. Talking aloud. Probably more, but i'm pressed for time.

What is the definition of crutch in this field?

I fiddle with hands all the time, click pens, tap feet, sometimes bounce foot to make the floor echo (not sure if that really counts, but it sounds nice, and feels nice). I rub my chin (only when I haven't shaved mind), bite my nails, lips, side of mouth, and rarely my tongue. I have strange skin, possibly Keratosis pilaris, and regularly find myself picking at my arms and legs. When thinking deeply or stressed I will chew my little finger Dr Evil style... and I am somewhat ashamed to say I also thumbsuck (I manage to only do it in private and immediate family though) at 20 (first time I've ever written that down...)!

Now for the spanner though - the thing is observing those around me, eveyone stims quite a lot, not having a dx it is perfectly feasable that I am AS, but I could also be NT - and going on what I have seen - I think its perfectly feasable to stim this amount (other than the thumb and picking arms) even as an NT - I welcome opinions on this though

Hand flapping, head scratching, shifting weight to other foot, pulling at whatever shirt I'm wearing, at random I'll uncontrollably burst into a run for about two-three steps.

Hmmmm..........can't think of others at moment.

Mainly nail biting (or finger biting when the nails are all gone) and tapping on tables.

I do rock ever so slightly also.

Hand/finger flapping, foot tapping, pick things, clap hands, wring hands, tap desk, talk to self, sing all the time, bite lips, hair pull
