After an anxious couple weeks waiting, my evaluation results are finally back.
They found PTSD, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Also extreme social anxiety, PCOS. and Hashimoto's, bit those I knew about. (Ok, the extreme social anxiety is a slight chage from the generalized anxiety, but same family).

I am officially one of the tribe. I can finally be a part of the only group where I have found acceptance and people who don't consider me a freak and a burden.

I can finally stop berating myself for not being able to be like everyone else, not fitting in, and not understanding some things. I can accept myself, because this isnthe way I am, and I have always been this way. I'm not lazy or inadequate, I legitimately function with a different level of ability than the 'normal' people around me. I'm also 'special', and I see things others don't, and feel things they don't, and experience things differently, and it isn't about me wanting attention, it is real.

For one, Congratulations though you might want to go and edit your signature for it says Seeking diagnosis. I know how hard it can be to get a ASD diagnosis as a Adult from experience and of course from reading about it on wrong planet.

PCOS is a pain in my ovaries you could say. I've known about it for a while, but don't manage it very well.

I've been suspecting something was up for a long time, but everyone insisted how "It's normal to skip a month or two at your age!"
Try skipping your period at least 5 months at a time, even 4 years after it first started. My older sister has PCOS too, so I guess that raises the chances.

Those statements make me so mad. I STARTED skipping two months, by the time I was 15, it would be 9 months or more. I have gone two years without a cycle (which COULD qualify me for menopause (in some loose qualifications).
Mine wasn't discovered until I was 24, and I had symptoms prior to my first period at 11. So mine got quite out of control. My weight skyrocketed, which made some things worse, which made my weight worse, etc. Definitely take care of it. OH, and if they suggest Metformin, which is common but can have GI issues, there is a 'gentler' version you can take.

First of all, a big congratulations and welcome to the club of the different!

I know how revealing it is to finally be certain about yourself and the feeling of "Now I can drop most of the act and accept myself"! :D

Congratulations and welcome to the tribe! We have a wood pole and fur tent set up for you, and the cooking fire is burning :D Has it hit you yet, or are you still processing? It took a few days for the reality of my "belongingness to the tribe" sank in.

Just realized my reply was deleted.

I have been researching for about two years. So as far as ASD/Aspergers applies to myself and my family, I have already adjusted, you could say. This diagnosis basically lent weight behind my seeming paranoia/hypocondria.
The fact that I was right is the hardest thing to sink in so far. THAT feels surreal.

As for having a tribe, it feels like the first day of Junior year high school at a new school. I feel like the new kid, even having hung here for a while.

If that makes sense.

I am so sorry for coming late to the party!! Congratulations on getting your diagnosis.

Better information = better decisions

You are in the right place. And, the best thing is that you now have answer(s) and people who can help with one thing or another.

And, you don't have to look at us, go out of your house, reply quickly, and, when things go wonky, we understand.

I am happy for you. :)

How are you handling it? It's been 8 days for me and I'm still processing it.

I'm doing well. The confirmation of my intact sanity has been the most soothing of the experience.

It is a difficult thing knowing you neither fit in nor belong anywhere. Even your family. It led to my distance here, because the idea that I could find such (lacking the word here... but similar experience/thinking/etc), and yet not beling was becoming physically painful.

I'm ecstatic that this is an official diagnosis. I still feel like the new kid, but at least it's the new kid on a block of people like me. We may all be different, but we share enough in common to make me not be an oddity or stand out where I have thus been an abberation and even a burden on those around me.
