I know I am,esspecially my huge Jim Henson Collection and I don't like it when some one touches or moves my things without me knowing. It gets overwhelming and It's like you don't know if it's all there or not, you know?

I know this is something to do with Asperger's.

I don't know if it's to do with Aspergers but I have this as well. I also get really upset if I lose something, even if it wasn't important, because I don't like the thought of it being lost somewhere without me.

Yeah or something happening to it without you even knowing. It's a haunting feeling.

its not over protective, its your stuff and no bugger else will look after it as well as you so its right to be protective. how can it be too protective? i had it said to me, cant be bothered to explain it to them, its obvious lol.

I feel protective of my things, and I hate when I have to let a stranger into my place, like a repair person or the landlord, because I feel like "Rainman" must have felt when his brother was touching his stuff. Very, very anxious, and just wishing that they'd hurry up and leave!

Yes, a haunting feeling...I'm STILL haunted by lost favorite pieces of jewelry, like the necklace I lost when I was small -- it had a tiny violet-scented doll encased within a purple, sparkly locket. I still wonder about that necklace, and sometimes imagine it lying beneath decades of garbage in a dump somewhere.

For me, one of the hardest aspects of being a parent is letting go of my treasures, be it watching them be destroyed by clumsy little hands or being taken/lost. SO HARD! I've had so many special things ruined or lost, which kills me, especially some of my beloved rhinestone pieces (my favorite stim thing), and some of my Egyptian knickknacks. If anyone touches my books, they KNOW I'll go ballistic, so no one dares go near my bookcases unless they have my permission to take a book.

Which reminds me, I HATE it when a friend or extended family member borrows one of my books and doesn't return it, or returns it with mustard smeared all over the pages. My books are my friends, and should be treated with respect!

I get the same thing, but mostly with pictures that i draw. I keep all my pictures, even stupid doodles. Once my mom threw away some pictures of mine by accident, i never forgave her for it. I dont understand why she woudl do that she knows how i am.

I'm very protective of my personal space. As a result, I hate hosting parties, hate it with a passion. I ended up canceling my birthday party multiple times because of this, under the pretext of "just not feeling like celebrating this year". At the same time, I can tolerate parties pretty well, and even enjoy them sometimes.

One thing I hate is since I'm alone at times and I don't have real friends to socialize with so I talk to myself out loud because I know I'm the only one who would be interested in hearing my own thoughts. Then when one of my parents come in through the door without me hearing them and they catch me in the act and ask me what I'm doing.

The first time this happened my father thought I was crazy and needed help. What's he know about Asperger's! In fact, what do NORMS KNOW ABOUT ASPERGER'S!

Small as it maybe, It can be enjoyable and it could be pure HELL!! !! !! !

Very much so, I get really annoyed if people mess with my stuff or it gets broken etc. even little things. I got so pissed off yesterday because someone keeps using my milk (its in a fridge in a common room) and it literally ruined most of my day, even though it is completely insignificant.

The worst thing was that a few days ago, I discovered a chip in my favourite mug and I felt really devestated, I still do a bit. I can't even explain it, it is only a mug but I have had it a couple of years and really liked it and looked after it - I don't know how it got chipped, must have been when I stacked it after washing up. I am also really keen on polishing, cleaning and looking after all my stuff as well as possible. Under my bed i have a load of boxes for things that I have bought over the years, I always need to keep the packaging and instructions etc. In many ways, my own attitude really annoys me because it means I get scared to use things because I don't want to dirty them. I rarely play my guitar, partly because it is such a pain having to polish and clean it (including strings) after every usage. I got a pda last year and didn't even take it out with me for the first several months because I was too scared to damage it but then I realised it was stupid to have it and not use it fully. It drives me mad to act like this but I can't help getting attached to my stuff.

Dude, I hear ya. Again, I got a HUGE MASSIVE Jim Henson Collection. A half my parents basement full. And I just can't let it out of my sight because It's history of my idol! I'm a historian on him Darn It! It's like, You screw with my things, you screw with me!

Today my parents were helping me organize the basement and they keep opening my boxes and asking questions like "Are these collectibles?","You had these since you were a kid, how can they be collectible?","You don't even use these", etc.

I just wanted to do autistic things like shake off my rists, shout out "SHUT UP, GET OUTTA HERE AND LEAVE ME ALONE!! !! !! !"

My father said at one point whille doing this "Ahh geez, he's getting all upset over this now."

I finaly stud up to him and said "Well I got Asperger's and you don't, I can't help it. If you can't handle it then you can just go back upstairs!"

I might have been alittle harsh on him, and even though I'm a sensitive guy, I don't feel sorry about what I told him. I kind of feel proud standing up for what I got. I hope it's right.

For people who don't know, Jim Henson's the creator of The Muppets. And I take The Muppets very seriously. If you say a remark like "The Muppets are for little kids", then I'll attack you and shout at you until I prove you wrong with my knolledge!

And I guess that's where my hostileity comes in for my Asperger's Syndrome.

I refuse to let people into my bedroom and I don't even like people to touch things that belong to me.

I don't like it, although in my case it's partially because I want to keep my things "clean" (and also I know where everything is, even when it looks like it's out of place sometimes).
