It burns my mouth. I know this is a sensory thing, because my parents said this doesn't happen to them..

Try a different brand. I have had problems with some brands but now I use Colgate Fresh Gel (AKA Colgate Blue Minty Gel) which is okay for me.

Actually. some brands of toothpaste have chemical allergens in them that certain people react to strongly. It may be a specific allergy that you have and your parents don't. Just try a different brand, maybe one of the organic brands (or whatever they're called) and see if it's better.

I have the same problem. I have settled on Toms of Maine fennel toothpaste. It doesn't burn.

That's interesting, I recently tried a new version of Toms toothpaste and I'm having the same weird burning reaction. It's the sensitive/enamel kind, the other Toms don't do that to me though.

I hate mint. I concur with the Tom's of Maine. I prefer the fennel flavor, too. This time I got mango flavor and its OK, not great but OK. They don't over power your tongue. Just be sure to get the floride kind. Some of Tom's varieties don't have floride. I never had a cavity until I decided that floride was a stupid idea. Now I have cavities all over the place, so I went back to floridated. Its worth it. Cavities suck. People underestimate how important healthy teeth are.

Another option might be the kiddie brands. They are more mildly flavored.

The Tom's strawberry flavor tasted nasty, but I really like minty toothpaste. So really I'm going to recommend you try to strawberry flavor if you don't like the power of the mint.

I actually like the taste and feel of toothpaste.

I also find mint toothpaste burns my mouth like a mid eastern curry 8O
Im currently using a natural toothpaste but also looking at moving over to coconut oil and making my own as i do with laundry detergent. Ironically when someone mentions the word 'Toothbrush' it sends shivers all over my body, it seems to be a weird sensory phobia i have. If i hear it on tv, or from someone in person my body acts weirdly to it, anyone else get that?

I use children's toothpaste, with pictures of The Wiggles on the tube. Every other kind tastes poisonous.

I'm glad I didn't have those issues, because at thirteen I sure as hell didn't get to choose the brand of the toothpaste I used. Neither at seventeen.

I agree, "mint" burns too much. Too much menthol !
Other flavours are overpowering, but at least they don't burn.

I'm not really sure if it's the mint though. That's al my parents buy, Maybe I can talk to my parents about it. They'ed probably be open to it as long as we have the kind. I don't. The ingredient is apparently Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. It supposed to make your teeth feel squeaky clean.

Me too. I can't stand mint or cinnamon toothpaste especially, but my dad loves them even though he's also hypersensitive. Strange.
I'd start crying when my dad brushed my teeth as a kid because the toothpaste was painful to me.

I agree about the Tom's toothpaste. I use it and it doesn't burn my mouth. Cinnamon and Spearmint are the worst for me, but Crest's "clean mint" is okay for me :)
