My handwriting was so bad I had to have lessons when I was 11/12. Now it's crudely formed but I think legible. However handwriting is a slow process and my hand can ache/get stiff after a short while. It's hard to write more quickly and still legibly.
By high school I had abandoned cursive, in favor of comic-book block lettering and still use that, which is fairly neat. I can't even remember how to form some of the cursive letters anymore. When I scribble notes quickly, it becomes a weird hybrid of the two, that resembles an EEG readout.

it can be really good if i try really hard but that takes a long time and i usually can't be bothered. i can read most everything i've written even though it looks like an alien language to other people. i posted a thread with a picture of some notes i took some time ago because i was wondering the same question. ah yes i found it. http://wrongplanet.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=296478
Horrific. I can't read it and I doubt anyone can read it. For me to write readably it's an lot of effort, so I tend to write upside most if the time as it's much less effort and is readable.

When I was younger I couldn't read my own handwriting. Anyway, my handwriting is pretty good from what others have told me. I smile every time they tell me that because I practiced so much to get to where my writing is now.
