I've been homeless a few times, 9 months was the longest, but I was fairly nomadic for quite a few years. Being homeless did not bother me too much.

Jobs with accommodation tied in worked out for me a few times.

Not really, as in a regular job, I'm rebuilding a house right now.

It can be rough at times but it does provide a large degree of freedom and gives perspective on life and other problems seem less significant.

Homelessness is tough.

You have to be really strong--especially in a cold climate.

And the cops sometimes are really hard on the homeless.

I was homeless for maybe a couple of days. Then a friend took me in.

I've been legally homeless but never on the streets. I had a very Snowy January without electricity and that was bad enough. I'd rather die than live on the streets.

The building in which I have my Toastmasters meetings is very near the homeless shelter in our town. It is a very rough neighborhood. I hope I never get to the point where I would have to live there.

First, seek shelter. Then, seek employment. Homeless shelters may not be nice places, but the phrase “Beggars Can’t Be Choosers” never had a more appropriate application.

I would go to construction sites, resume in hand, explain my situation to the foreperson, and offer to do any kind of work that needed to be done. The first time, it took three days before I was hired to do site clean-up, and about another week before I was allowed to drive a van to do pick-up and deliveries. That job did not last long, but my reputation for wanting to earn my pay quickly spread. Before long, I was working as a night watchman, with free uniforms, free coffee and donuts, and enough pay to put some away for first and second months’ rent on an efficiency apartment.

Once I had an address and phone number, seeking better jobs was just a matter of persistence and an up-beat attitude.

30 years of hustle, hustle, hustle (“luck” had nothing to do with it) not only gave me a wide variety of work experiences, but it gave me a good reputation, a great credit rating, a wide circle of friends, and a beautiful wife.

Of course, I fully expect you to find some excuse as to why this simple formula couldn’t possibly work for you (and you alone), but you did ask, so there it is.

Move to a low income area if you have to, a lot rural areas can be cheaper, and you may be able to find a job on site with provided boarding.

I think many times it would be better to not exist. No problems...

If you didn't exist you wouldn't just be lacking problems, you would also lack hope.
That is not a good trade off.
