Does anyone else hear a humming noise when in bed at night?

I'm wondering what it could be.

Tinnitus?

Or maybe there is something that actually is making a humming noise, I'm really sensitive to that sort of thing and can often hear low/high pitched humming/whining from things like electronics and pylons etc when no one else can. Can't always identify where the sound's coming from either, just know it's definitely an external sound because it changes in volume when I move or stick my head out of the window etc.

Or auditory hypnagogic (i.e. as you're falling asleep) hallucinations? They're a pretty common phenomenon (in that most people probably experience it at some point in their life, not so common to get it really frequently I don't think). I get them, usually music or other random sounds, but I get hypnopompic hallucinations more often (that's the other way round-get them when you're waking up) and sometimes sleep paralysis so I'm used to it being part of my weird sleep brain.

I run an air filter next to my bed at night. Drowns out the other noises.

Could be air conditioning or your fridge.

It's been awhile since I've seen the topic reported, but I know there have been articles written in the past about many people reporting uncharacteristic rumbling, low frequency droning sounds in different locations around the world. It's occurred often enough and to a widespread degree and reported by many independent people that, again, it's been reported on.

Who knows.

Yes, but in my case it's tinnitus, so no great mystery there.

But seriously...its gotta be (either in your ear, or in your house) either tintinitus, or an appliance (like the fridge) in your house.

I guess it must be an appliance as as far as I know I don't have tinnitus. Sometimes I notice it more than others.

Sometimes I think I hear a humming.
I got my hearing tested.
I don't think I have tinnitus.
I have very good hearing though.

I can even hear a current of electricity sometimes.

Right now I may hear someone snoring which I've never heard before.
That person must be really tired.
I live in an apartment.

I think many autistic people have extremely acute hearing. I regularly hear high-pitched electrical noises; my AS son also does, though to a lesser degree; other family members hear nothing.
