40 and still living with my parents.

Even when I had a job renting was too expensive and my own house...not a hope in hell.

I don't live with my parents, I live with my boyfriend.

It's OK to live with your parents.

I left my parents when I started Uni at age 18, and didn't go back except for a month or two of transition after graduation.

My child who is on the spectrum is mid-20s and still lives with me. She's welcome to stay forever if she wants.

They paid for a house and then colon cancer and stroke

Dropped dead

My worthless corpse lives in their house

Good thing because no way could I afford rent on minimum wage part time slavery

Mid-30s and the only time I didn't live with my parents was in college. I... did not have the maturity to handle it well at the time, and am only just getting it now. Plus I never could have moved out when I was doing temp work.

In another two years I hope to finally have my own place. Student loan payoff this year and saving for down payment (apartments are not an option due to my sensory issues, especially if they're anything like college dorm noise) next year is my plan. If I have to replace a car or deal with medical bills that'll merely delay things.

It’s nothing to be ashamed of.

Elderly parents do need someone to take care of them. Why not their children?

I was living away, but then my mom became very sick. I moved back home a few years ago to be her caregiver. I'm in my 30s. Now if I wanted to move out I couldn't. I depleted all my savings bc I could only work part time while caring for her and the last 2 years not at all. But we decided together that I'd stay even if I start making decent money as a dog trainer. I enjoy being with my family. And my mom is most comfortable with me helping her than a stranger. Unless I get married, which I'm not sure will happen in this life.

Not me; I moved out at 18. But hey, my dad lived with his 'till he was 30. And it was his patents who moved out, not him.

I moved out when I was 32. I'd do it the same way if I had to start over.

Technically me.

I moved out to my own place recently but mum's having building work done so she's staying with me.

I love that she only lives 2 streets away normally so we can be in and out of each other's lives all the time.

There is no shame in living with parents. It is sad when people don't like their parents/kids - although it can happen, my biological dad refused to talk to me for a year because I'm against his risky behaviour & tendency to pick fights with strangers in public and I risked telling him that. If living far away from home makes you happy, there's no shame in that either - although I have to say I can't imagine it myself. Do what you are able to do (mentally/physically/finanically), and what makes you happy.

I consider it a sign of maturity in NTs (and autistic people who argued with parents in teenage years) to make peace and friendship with non-abusive, non-dangerous parents in later years. To figure out that when a loving mum told you 'do your homework' and 'tidy your room', it was for your own good. I was lucky enough to never go through that 'I HATE YOU MUM' phase.

I'm 32.

I’m 27 and still live with my parents, probably will for the rest of my lives or the rest of theirs, whichever ends first.
