I have been hanging out more with my autistic friend, partly because he offered to let me come over and wash my clothes every week. And I feel like it's way easier to be myself around him, for one I don't have to worry so much about social rules.

I'm not sure if I'd say I prefer the company (especially considering I generally prefer to be alone) but I will say that, even before realizing I was autistic, I found myself gravitating to hanging out with other autistics rather than with NTs.

I definitely understand that. One of the reasons I realized I was autistic was that, like you said, I gravitate toward autistic people. Most people I do not understand, but when an autistic person is around, I feel fine and mostly talk to them. They also seem very interested in talking to me, it's like magnets. I am not like that with most people.

Al of my life I had the tendency to befriend autistics. That is before I knew I was autistic. It's like I understood that we are similar and different from others. I also felt much better socialising with other fellow aspies. That doesn't mean that everything went always petfectly smoothly. But in general yes I have to say that I instantly like fellow aspies.

Do You Prefer The Company Of Other Autistic People?

Sometimes but I should say that to me the notion of "aspies should be most comfortable with other aspies" isn't that good.
I think it is nore about the person than whether it he/she has ASD or not.

It depends. I'm drawn to insightful, interesting people who are engaging to interact with and with whom I can have deep and meaningful conversations. Some autistic people fit the bill, and some don't.

Its a yes and no answer from me. I feel like a weirdo who doesn't always like other weirdos so I've had mixed experiences with fellow autistics.

I prefer NT people who understand autism the most. I can do well interacting with most people, but it's too much work with those who don't express themselves well. So it really depends on what kind of autistic people they are. If they can express themselves and respond to questions then that's mostly OK. Although the hardest people for me to get along with tend to be narcissists. It's lucky that I don't have any temper or I would have slapped them. :D

I tend to prefer the company of odd, quirky eccentric people, autistic or not. I also prefer introverts.

When I want someone who "gets" me - yes. When I want someone who gets something done - no. :D

My ASD BFF helps me feel seen.
My NT husband helps me get things done.

i dont know many other autistic people but there is one autistic man i know who used to work at the same depot as me but he is still a human and i dont really want many humans in my life whether there autistic or nt or other difference

the only human i love is my son but friendswise no im not interested except online like here because theres not so much pressure you can just be social when you choose to log in to the site then leave when you dont want to be social any more and its just different but people in real life is just no way i dont want friends

Not particularly. I usually prefer non-mainstream people, which isn't quite the same thing. If somebody is neurotypical then in theory they have the potential to behave in a more considerate way, though in practice it doesn't seem to make much difference. It's probably better to give any individual a fair chance whatever their diagnostic label, and judge them on their own merits. By "merits" I mean suitability for me, not some absolute thing.

I don't know many diagnosed autistics but I have friends and family members who probably are. I also prefer introverts and quirky people.

I sort out autistic ppl.
I had a "girlfriend" who was autistic and saw her on and off for 9 years.
