What are some good comebacks to deal with an ableist person?

Call them a Nazi. It's what a lot of people do on the internet, at least.

The Jerk Store called. They're running out of you!

You'll smoke them with that line.

It depends on how the person is being ableist. Can you tell us more about the situation you had in mind?

Depends.

The ones I thought of are not in English, likely not common scenarios in western settings, and very much to do with human ignorance and close-mindedness.

I hate to be a buzzkill but most of the time straight-up information or education is what they need.

Seconded. I prefer the punishment to fit the crime.

That's a good comeback. I'll have to try that one.

When people get you down, you prove them wrong. Talk is cheap, speak with actions.

Insult them with big words that sound to a normal person like compliments. Don't be confrontational in fact be overly polite and use logic. Granted I enjoy messing with bullies so.. your miles may vary. I tend to have very little emotional response in tense situations or arguments. I find that gets under the skin of most people. Fair warning though when some people run out of words to get an emotional response. They tend to get physical. I don't know really depends on the particular situation and the moments surrounding it.

You're going to have to be more specific about the scenario. Ableism is a very broad concept.

Some people here will consider me ableist because I think autism is a disorder instead of a difference.

Just ask them if they have always had trouble with social situations and suggest they should see a psychologist for an evaluation.

Yes..an "ablest" could be your own well meaning mama insisting that cant do something that you can do. And that might make a person more angry than someone being deliberately hostile to you.

Or an ablest could be an innocently ignorant workmate who assumes that you cant do something.

Or an ablest could be the equivalent of racist...who is prejudiced against just because you are a member of the autism "race" so to speak.

Or an ablest could be someone has something against you personally and who just bullies you personally.

Different motivations. Requiring different responses.

Also ...I thought it was spelled the OP spelled it, but the sites autocorrect underlines with a read line. But when I loose the "I" it does NOT flag it as misspelled. So...I guess "ablest" is the correct spelling.

I can't disagree more. Certain types will never be satisfied with actions, and must only be silenced with skillful use of language. Nothing is more satisfying than tearing apart a fool's foolish argument and leaving them speechless.
