I absolutely cannot stand when people crunch on food.

It irritates the living **** out of me, and I will avoid it at all costs.

It started back in around 6th grade.

Its pretty much the main reason how I found out I had Asperger's, because my symptoms are extremely mild, nothing like in the movie Mozart and the Whale which are extremes of Asperger's.

In fact, when I went to get diagnosed by the Neuropsychologist, she was extremely skeptic about the whole thing- She even said she didn't think I had it.

I told her I have all traits- I avoid eye contact, I really only care about 2 things in General(School and My Bowel Problem), I don't like being around other people, I tap my fingers on my desks or rub my chin unconsciously when I get nervous, and I say things that are extremely pratical and true but inadvertly they can make other people very very angry so lots of people think of me as a major prick.

Anyways, Anyone else have the same problem with crunching?

Glad to see I'm not the ONLY person who hates this! I can't stand it. It's gotten to the point where when my partner is eating chips, I either have to leave the room or plug my ears. He doesn't get why it drives me crazy. Just put the damn chip all the way in your mouth before starting to chew! I used to never be able to eat in public because of all the eating noises. I've gotten a lot better with that but the crunching noise is where I draw the line.

If I hear someone crunching on nuts or chewing loud I have to leave the room. I just can't take the sound for long.

My girlfriend likes sunflower seeds and she sits munching the damn things for hours at a time. After an hour or so I give up and leave the room because it's like sitting next to a rabbit.

I have a problem with pretty much all eating sounds...crunching is horrible, and I absolutely despise gum chewing. It's so bad that I can't even look at someone who is eating or chewing gum without getting immensely annoyed. At least if it's on TV I can change the channel, but it's torture when you're in the same room with someone.

I'm there as well.

Crunching, noisy slurpy eating- it all drives me NUTS! I also can't stand the noise of someone popping their fingers, back, etc. It grosses me out.

Crunching bad, lip-smacking worse. BLEEECCCCCH.

By the way, this is called misophonia, and apparently disliking eating noises is one of the most common kinds.

I really hate the sound of someone chewing and popping gum, especially if they sit behind me on the bus. Or when someone keeps clicking their dentures. Instant rage

Usually, along with cats & dogs licking themselves, horses chewing/smacking.

Now ~this~ is something I remember irking me since childhood to the nth degree. Still does - but now I wear earplugs 24/7.

Chewing is damn annoying!

I hate when people smack their lips when they eat. Smacking noises are way more annoying to me than crunching noises.

I once had a big German Shepherd dog who liked to lick his penis and balls and he would make these big loud slurping sounds which drove me nuts (not a long drive, by the way!) I couldn't in all fairness scold him for this, as it was just his dog thing, so I used to have to put a pair of old scivvies on him, with a hole cut out for his tail, when it was impractical to put him outdoors.
The only thing worse than hearing people masticate is SEEING them masticate with their mouths open!! ! Children tend to do this. Yeegh!! !
