It seems like a lot of the angst about NTs stem from specific acts of bullying. I think aspies do get targeted for bullying more and maybe we should start collecting anecdotes and tracking incidents in case we need to present the aspie position in some forum or other.

do you think it would be helpful and what do you hope to achieve?

My main problem is getting my foot in the door anywhere right now. People think because my shy demeanor at first means I must not be good but once I get on a roll it isn't that bad. Wouldn't call that bullying right now but it certainly isn't a good feeling.

Actually, those that haven't experienced it wouldn't believe. My mother didn't believe until one time in highschool where a gang of three kids ganged up on me. WHY? I have NO idea!

As adults, people just don't think about the bullying. SURE, there is the OBVIOUS stuff that starts bar brawls, etc... Then there is the more "subtle" stuff that makes the world so litigious. What an "adult" sounding word for something creating and fighting such utter BABIES!

Bosses, definitely. I was bullied by Mister Scrooge for more than three years. The Bastard. Finally just quit. Somehow he just knew he could get away with it, too.

This topic has been discussed many times on WP before. Not sure if anymore discussion of it will make alot of difference. I was bullied for a variety of reasons, none of which made sense. Only when I got to college and was free of the forced socialization of high school, junior high, etc., did it stop.

Typically when I was bullied, it was mainly from kids who had another high-functioning disability, like ADHD. I had a ton of proof there to back me up. NT kids have always been nice to me. I think all the hatred against them here is just ret*d.

Just because you weren't bullied by Nt's doesn't mean others weren't but on another note, sorry anyone gets bullied by anyone NT or not Also, this is a good place to vent considering our condition makes us look very bad in the public eye when talked about and you always get to hear about how life sucks for the NT yet here people are with autism high and low who have it rough too. It may not be something some people want to read but it's not like I've never had to read things I never wanted to read, listen to insensitive swipes, having others try to take advantage of my niceness amongst other things.

Some NT's are frustrated with low and high functioning autism and they get to talk others ear off for support. Where do people with low and high functioning autism have to turn to? Do NT's want to hear about it unless they get paid for it?

I know how you feel Kitsy, because I am going through the same thing right now. It doesn't help that I am very passive by nature either. I think that my passivity is why I was picked on a lot in elementary and middle school (other than being so different). Bullies know that the kid who doesn't do anything to protect themselves is an easy target, so getting beat up, having your lock/clothes stolen from your gym locker, etc. was par for the course. Of course, even when I did stick up for myself it really did not help a whole lot either....

*hugs*

In school, I'd have people try that with me but my father taught me how to fight. There was a year though where I was treated like a doormat for a few months longer than what would usually be an instant retaliation but ended up fighting back. I also beat up others that were bullying others in front of me or screamed. This one guy in school was very shy and his sister commited suicide. A month later his mom did the same. Other teens were picking on him and saying he was going to do it next and I screamed at them until they left him alone.

It freaks people out more if you are generally quiet, frail but you get in their face when they are being jerks and scream.

I do see where you're coming from and all, but I see the whole thing as being prejudice. I'm sure they don't have sites that are singling out people with AS and other disabilities of the like. Sorry, but this whole thing has greatly annoyed the heck out of me.

agree too.

hating bullies is only fun for the irony.

i think it is ok and good to post how people feel, but maybe in the Haven, or a thread related to anger or depression. not one specifically anti-bully.

That is kind of ironic I guess. I think many of us have some stored up aggression and bad feelings from years of being tortured. NT-hating bothers me more than bully-hating though, to be honest.
