Please answer this poll ONLY IF you are an ASPIE or think you are an ASPIE and your IQ was professionally measured. IQ scores from online IQ tests don't count.

(I know IQ scores change depending on the test taken, but the variation is usually very small.)

I hope the question is not too indiscreet. I'm just curious.

Well, you DO realize anyone saying less than 80 is a liar or has a dumb psychiatrist! And this question HAS been asked a lot! The answers tended to cluster around the mid 130s, although they went into the sixties, and a number were in the 120s. Of course, some were lower.

BTW There have ALSO been questions as to how many have been in mensa. A number have been. Apparently they even have a sub group for ASPIES!

I had actually thought about asking that question. Thanks for reminding me.

Psychs have attempted to measure my IQ twice. They couldn't produce a result because the gap between the math areas and the language ones was too great. I think I'm below the 20th %ile for math and above the 90th for language.

Isnt there any online test that can provide an accurate measure of IQ?

My verbal IQ is 144, but my performance IQ is only 121. That gives me a calculated full scale IQ of 138, but technically it shouldn't even be calculated because the discrepancy is so big. Oh, well.

My IQ was professionally measured at 134, but that was back in the 6th grade (7 or 8 years ago), when my performance would have suffered from unusual setting anxiety and what not, and since the test didn't take my AS into account, I think it may be closer to 150+, although I marked the 130-139 just because that's the measured value...

No. Not even a full pen and paper battery is that good a measure. It should really be administered as a variety of tasks over a number of sessions, one on one.

But that is rarely the case.

There is no way to have a quickie internet test that would be even vaguely accurate.

I tested 132 by professionals. But I think I may actualy have some sort of attention disorder because they did a test for it. The kind where you have to circle all the figures with four dots and I missed like 80 percent. My mind was like blanking them out... I really pissed me off

So most are 130-139? I wonder why and how.

Well, I don't think autism is retardation, etc... It is almost like a computer with a memory mapped video card. Reducing the video memory means more memory/speed for the computer. Likewise, autistics have fewer resources dedicated towards social stuff, and other stuff benefits. BESIDES, aspies work at their interests while the NTs are out playing.

ALSO, I guess with all those that have such ralatively high IQs, there must be a lot that have really LOW IQs, and they don't qualify for an AS diagnosis.

ALSO, apparently the average aspie has a pretty strong long term memory.

So I guess it isn't that unexpected.
