Separation between different kinds of people isn't good, right? "Us over here, them over there," that kind of thing.
So what is this thing about neuro-typicals? I mean, we're ALL people here. I don't want to be classified as something and I don't see why I should classify anyone as something either.
No "NT" person is responsible for your life being the way it is. Forget about it. There's no blame here.
Seems a bit ridiculous to me, that's all.

How is it ridicule? I just see it as an easy, two-syllable way to say "normal people", particularly if we're talking about their differences. If we were talking about black people for example, we wouldn't say "those people are less prone to getting melanomas", we need to specify the group we're referring to for our statement to have any meaning, and if anyone uses a label like "NT" in an abusive way then they're obviously misguided.

There is no such thing as a normal, problem-free person. Everyone is different in some way.

I refer to those who can easily assimilate; I respect that every one of us has insecurities.

Well, I'm learning as I'm going here.
Show me where I said "ridicule."
"Normal people." I see. But aren't you normal? For yourself, I mean. Of course you are, how could you not be?
"If we were talking about black people." Why talk about "black" people?
"We need to specify the group we're refering to." There is only one group. It's called humanity, and we're all a part of it, until we die, like it or not.

Ridicule... My bad, not too sure what came over me, I do suspect I might also suffer from schizophrenia...

I don't believe I am normal, if I thought I was normal what would I be doing in a forum for aspies? And I see nothing wrong with associating different groups of people with different labels. It's not racism, there's no hatred or segregation.

Why should there be different groups of people? Why can't there be just one group?

I'm not saying that we can't all work together as one, a utopian society like that would be a dream come true, I'm just saying that I feel it's ok to use descriptive terms to refer to a group of people to which a particular statement might apply. I take no offence to people calling me an aspie (neglecting the fact that I have not been officially diagnosed), provided that they don't use the term in a disrespectful way (for example, constantly referring to me in that way without any reason), or incorrectly label me as an "autistic", which I have had happen before. I know we constantly refer to the general public as NT's, but I think it's appropriate in the context of what is being said.

I use it because it's quicker than saying (or typing) "people who are not on the autistic spectrum".

Why would anyone call you that?

My point exactly.

They could call me that out of jest, or they could simply be making a statement that has to do with my condition.

Not to belabor this, but why would they know about your condition?

I think the OP was referring to some Nt bashing I've seen. As far as I see NT bashing is part ot the frustration that some of the aspie population feel. To me, WP is a safe place to lash out.

I have been included in a group of dino aspies and have deveoped strong friendships.

As far as as being normal or neurotypical to differiantate me from the rest of the aspie population, I find that very funny. I have been described as the weirdest person that a friend of mine has ever met. It's such a relief to post here where there is no BS, no small talk and my words are taken seriously.

The thing about disliking NTs is that nine times out of ten they ridicule and ostracize us because we're different than them. It's not that NTs are bad, it's just that they tend to give aspies a very hard time.

And isn't that a happy world view? Sorry, but as the weird cog in the wheel, I understand that some of us are more different than others. Anyone else have the invisible weird tattoo that only NT's, cheerleaders, and co workers can see?
