I find that I forget simple things easily, such as I need to vacuum the house or pick up the dog crap or do laundry that day, but I end up doing it eventually...be it the next day or 3 days later. I'm also not very good with phone numbers or people's birthdays, but once I get it down, I have it forever. Anyone relate?

I have that problem a lot. I have tons of notes scattered around, reminding me to do certain things, but then I forget to look at the notes :?

Yes. All the time.

I've started making lists of things I need to remember to do. Then I carry them around in my coat pocket. It's a little neurotic, and I actually don't like lists, but it helps me remember what I need to do, and gives me a sense of accomplishment when I get something done.

As for phone numbers, I can remember them once I've dialed them several times. Birthdays-no help there.

I never remember to remember things, so I might remember that I have to do something, but I never remember to remember it at the correct time. Does that make sense?

At one point, I printed out a list of things I had to do everyday (list with little icons at the side), with the whole thing in sections (before college, after college, evening, weekend or something like that) with some divided boxes at the bottom which represented morning, afternoon evening etc. for each day of the week. I coated this in sticky-backed plastic and used a dry-wipe/whiteboard pen to cross things off as I did them each day. When I'd completed a section (e.g. after college), the corresponding section could be filled/coloured in at the bottom.

The next morning, I would wipe it off and start again (apart from the shaded in bits of the week - that was wiped off at the beginning of the next week).

This was stuck with bluetack on my wardrobe.

Worked fairly well for a bit.

I'd show you if I could find the file.

I'm really forgetful. My memory is good but just really unreliable,I don't trust it.

I write everthing down on paper, makes life easier

My short term memory is bad, I forget things like if I locked the door, or where I put my keys

I have a good memory for details, names etc but I can be absent-minded
when it comes to putting things down and forgetting where I left them.

Mostly I forget little things that I don't emphasize importance on, like where is my lighter or to turn the lights off.
I mostly just focus too much and forget if I'm supposed to be doing something else.

I have a really good memory for things that are important to me like dates, numbers, coversations... etc.

Definitely...I constantly promise myself I'll do certain things, though they slip my mind...

I have a very bad short term memory. It's always been like this. The most detailed memory I have from my childhood is in first grade the teacher told us to do something, and when I turned around I completely forgot and was washed in panic.

Yeah, I'm the SAME! It is AMAZING! Some days my memory seems to be just GREAT, and other days my short term memory seems almost worthless. I am now presented with MORE stuff I would like to learn in a great format than ever before, but I am struggling to get back the type of memory I had when I was 5.

yes. I type all my stuff with my alphasmart, more like I do that for any notes and things I think to write down.

Mine is worse than a goldfish. At least you can remember something for 2 seconds, I can't even do that! Sometimes I don't remember who I am. Who am I again? Where am I?

I'm so forgetful that I keep messing up my meds and knowing whether or not I ate a meal during a given day. I bought a plastic thingy that sorts my meds by day (something a senior citizen would use), but I'd either overdose or forget to take them altogether without it. My husband has to remind me to eat, which is annoying. I carry around a digital recorder to make notes of things to remember to do, and I'd be totally lost without Post-it sticky notes.
