I find ordinary people annoying most of the time because of their emphasis on emotion rather than reason. Sometimes I just can't bring myself to talk to them, not because I'm afraid or unable to, but because I find them boring and unutterably small-minded. I'm wondering is this just a question of intelligence because I see myself as clever and a lot of others aren't and are intimidated by this cleverness. Most of my issues with others stem from their emotionality and their lack of intelligence. I'm aware that "most" and "intelligence" are relative terms but I do think the differences here are more pronounced than simply autistic ones.

:?: :?:

PS I find autistic people less annoying than so-called normal people.

I think each group has representatives that can get really annoying, it is a human trait...

Well, your subject line is asking if we find people with Asperger's syndrome or some other autism spectrum disorder more annoying than the general population, and often I'd say yes. Offline my experience with people with AS has been generally worse than my experience with NTs. The reason for this is that the aspies, at least in this meet-up group, have proven supremely unreliable. We've had problems even planning to see a movie.

I realise the difference. But I think people are the product of their behaviours and I evaluate their particular worth on the basis of their actions because I cannot read their minds.

My subject line was calculated to draw in people to read my thoughts on this subject. People always read positive things about autism here so I decided to surprise people with an potentially offensive headline to draw attention to my real question. Is this wrong?

I tend to find ordinary people to be interesting individuals, because some of them have great talents, and a lot of them have good sides and bad sides- in other words, they are not very much different from us. As for other Autistic people, I do tend to think they can be annoying.

I don't get better along with other aspies than I do with NTs (which is the case with many aspies--I'm not the only one).

Sometimes I find myself to be annoying, but I don't know how else to behave!

And sometimes I like to frighten and annoy other people!

Well most of the autistics I know are from camp and are for the most part MFA-LFA with a couple of HFA sprinkled in. I dont find they annoing at all, i love working with them and they facinate me. Other counselors though sometime don't have the patience and find them annoying. I think it has a lot to do with ones comfort level with people acting in out of place ways.

I know a few autistic people I went to school with, and they are actually some of the most annoying and emotional people I know. For a while I figured I could probably relate to them more than NTs, but it's actually been quite the opposite. I do have a coworker who I suspect may be an aspie, he's a low key kind of person and we get along extremely well. I think it all depends on someone's personality, whether they are autistic or NT.

I can relate better to Aspies in some situations and better to NTs in others. I have friends who are both.
I'm usually not annoyed by people unless they're presumptuous or ask me too many questions.
I get along better with people if I experience emotions with them. I know it's hard for all you non-feelers out there to understand, but emotions are wonderful and rewarding, and I really, really pity those of you who are incapable of appreciating them.

Pity is such an ugly emotion. As I have made abundantly clear elsewhere I think most emotions are invented by humans for specific often hostile purposes usually related to power and control. I have no use for such emotions and things I have no use for I sell on eBay. You are entitled to your opinion and I am not trying to be hostile.

An annoying thing that so far as I can tell aspies and auties don't do... Box people in. As in, place people in a category, and then, gee, by golly, that's what they are. It's not that they (we?) don't use categories. But as descriptions, not constraints.

This is true. Some people find it hard to track large amounts of data so simplify the process by using such "boxes" or categories. I think at any rate.
