If so, why do you think that is?

In my case... I don't know... It's difficult to explain... I guess I'm simply unable to value other people's needs. I just don't understand what the big deal is when it comes to certain things.

On the other hand, NTs also seem incredibly selfish from my point of view. They don't care how I feel or what I need.

As far as the NTAs go that's my experience too. They always complain I don't put their needs first even though they've never put my needs first. They're only thinking about getting what they want with no sense of equality, like I'm not a real human that they should treat decently but only a thing put on earth with a duty to give them whatever they demand.

Other people don't think I'm selfish, but I certainly feel that I am sometimes.

I did when I was a kid. Maybe because I lacked empathy according to them, I couldn't relate, I didn't know how to respond to stories perhaps I heard, the things I said perhaps, me not hanging out with people and being really interested in them, and my anxiety.

In certain occasions. Mostly my mother accuses me of it, because of nothing, she does it when she believes she has something to complaint about, when there's nothing. Like I forgot to ask her if she wanted coffee too. I simply forgot to ask, but she made a whole drama out of it. Ridiculous.

Never selfish, usually the opposite cause I've learned to pretend I dont care and to go along with what ever. So in situations involving my opinion and desires i get accused more of being meek. BUT, I get accused of being cocky all the time. people say I come off kinda cocky a lot.

oh yeah, my mother always called me selfish and punished me for it and compared me negatively to all the others in the family. Now she's extremely sick with a horrible illness, and old and my siblings deserted her when she got sick, and I'm the only person in the world who's still in touch with her and I take care of her intensively. I, the selfish one.

Others accuse me of being selfish when I say "No" to their requests after htey have never granted any request of mine.

I've also learned that it's "selfish" to request that someone smoke outside; yet it is not selfish for one person to stink up an entire house with tobacco smoke.

It is selfish to keep one's hard-earned pay to one's self and become wealthy; but it is not selfish to be a lazy, good-for-nothing parasite who steals and lives off the well-being of others.

So I'm selfish. Big, fat, hairy deal! :P

I'm not an Aspie but my bf is. He can appear to be extremely selfish although I am aware that he can't help it. Also, a general lack of interest in anything anyone else has to say is evident.

All the time. When I was younger I was told I was the most hateful and selfish kid on the earth. =[ My parents understand me more now though.

Me too especially when it comes to being with friends, like I think they want to hang out with me more than I want to hang out with them. I don't even feel like I deserve them because of that.

mainly because not being selfish is partly due to 'knowing' what one should do for others, before you do for yourself. I get accused of selfishness before, so I have to wait for everyone else, then take what I want...;)

All the time. Mostly by my mom, who seems to want to always guilt trip me, as well as seems like I should feel ashamed I have ASD.

I'm often accused of being selfish. Probably because I am selfish.
Everyone is to some degree.
Selfish is as much an act as it is a disposition.
If you don't want to be accused of being selfish, then don't act selfish.
