Not sure if this counts as abnormal sleep, but I seem to require a lot less sleep than most people. It's not uncommon for me to be able to function with around 5-6 hours of sleep a night during the week. My wife definitely needs more.

I usually sleep fine unless I have an obsession in the front of my brain. Then sometimes my head "spins" with processing information and it's really difficult to let go.

Yes I suffer from insomnia frequently. Generally I take a long time to fall asleep and wake up often through the night. I have always been like this so have gotten used to it. Generally I sleep 4-6 hours a night. I feel bad if I get less than 5.

No solutions yet :(

If I've been drinking I can just feel it in my stomach, so I can't sleep.
If I've been out then I run the entire night through my head continuously and can't sleep.

I have huge trouble sleeping if there's something going through my head which there usually is. Only if I'm physically exhausted can I sleep in bed easily. Of course on the other side of that I can take nap relatively easily espically while in a car or during breaks at work.

yes use to have severe problems sleeping... what was my problem--> sensory...
I blacked out all my shades, got a sound machine and somewhat noisy fan, and mini air conditioner, got air purifier and ionizer, got weighted blankets, light therapy and now i sleep great.
If you think it may be sensory try some of those things might help, if its actual sleep, have u ever tried melatonin? or taking benedryl? either way hope u find a solution, because i know when me sleep deprived drove my family and i absolutely nuts!! !

More the opposite for me. I am tired all the time - need a couple naps a day and about once a week I go to bed soon after 6 pm and sleep until the next morning.

Often I can have sleeping problems, sometimes I sleep only 5 hours in a night.

Even if I'm incredibly tired it can take me anywhere from between 1 and 3 hours to fall asleep. I can't have any noise at all while I'm trying to get to sleep, and earplugs make the problem worse because I find them uncomfortable. Also, I find that I need to sleep for about 11 hours a night to feel refreshed. There are rare occasions where I can sleep for only 7 or 8 hours and feel fine but the need for silence never changes. I can't even have a clock in my room because the ticking is so annoying.

I don't have a sense of rhythm, so I sleep at random times. Usually I'm up about 23 hours or so, and then sleep from 4-12 hours.

Don't have any advice about it though. For me I've just accepted that it's how I am. I get a lot done, though - so it's not all bad.

I used to have terrible trouble sleeping. I would be awake all night and fall asleep for a while during the day. My psychiatrist prescribed melatonin for me, which is a natural drug that some people lack, and now I'm much better, although it still takes me a while to get to sleep.
