The questions that I am asking are:

Does the girlfriend know that seanmw is trying to get the money together to go see her?

If so is she happy about it and looking forward to seeing him; ie. does she want him to visit her?

Or does she seem rather reluctant about it, has she tried to put him off doing so, for any reason however "nice", ( like saying that she doesn't want him to waste his money, that it's a long trip for him, or that she isn't feeling well enough for visitors, or whatever )?

Does she know that he may be able to get the money for the trip with help from people on WP, or does she think he is very unlikely to be able to find enough money? ie. if she isn't telling the truth, if the "scam" in the whole situation is the highly sympathetic attention she gets from seanmw, rather than anything financial, is she feeling fairly confident that he won't be able to pay for a flight and therefore that her story won't be blown by him getting there?

Seanmw , seriously though , if you use less and and then you would sound more sincere and less....suspicious.

If none of you (you and the girl) is lying about the whole tale , then you should at least man-up a bit during a such hard time, she'll need it.

I have no doubts about halp_bopp's good intentions tho.

i forgot my password and went through a rigmarole, but anyway, i finally got into my account (that i have not used in a few years), and i have to add funds to it. it says that the funds will then be available within 3-7 days for me to then send. who do i send it to anyway? where are the details posted?
there is an option that says "send money immediately", and it shows the following screen.

do you have an email address that is linked to paypal or something. i do not understand how it works.
i can not see how the money will get into your bank account from an email address unless you have set it up to link it with your account.

anyway, the way you describe her, it seems that she is deteriorating rather rapidly so you should go there as fast as possible and maybe let your mother work out the stuff concerning your sister. they will both be alive when you get back. i would like to get money to you straight away and i will give you the rest of what you need for the ticket.

tell me where i can see the details of how to get you the money please?
and i am not doing this for thanks. i am not a very nice person anyway, but this kind of thing happened to me once and it may stay with you for the rest of your life if you do not go to be with her and she dies.

i kind of am confused about why he does not post the exact price of the ticket, and why he is not following up these leads with alacrity.
i do not pm people and i am not friends with anyone on this site (except for one who does not post much) and i do not want to be involved in background clubs and stuff.

if it were me, i would already know what available flights there are, and what they cost, and i would post the figure and follow up every lead i got. i would never ask for money if i had none, but if i felt seriously for someone who was needing my company in her final days, and i could not get to them, then i would beg, borrow or steal anything i could to get there. i would steal a car and be with her and pay for the consequences later.

anyway i will wait and see.

I don't think it's been thought through very well, because it's been a spontaneous thing. No one's been plotting this for months, it's developed organically.

It's only a few quid if everyone chips in, what's the big deal?

Sean's probably got enough on his plate without organizing a wee charity drive.

Sean, I'm sorry to hear about your GF. Unfortunately, I don't have an internet account so I can't contribute. It may be helpful if you posted how much the plane ticket costs though.

Would've replied to these sooner, but i had to sleep. I'd been up for 2 straight days working on all this stuff and kinda burned myself out.
So i got a current plane ticket cost posted up (sorta more than i thought it would be since the last time i checked prices was a few months ago, i didn't know they would go up that much ). Looking at conservatively about $555 round-trip.
& got the site up, it's in my signature. It's still not really finished, i'm still working on it, but it's there. At the very least i got most of the content on the home page filled in, a paypal button on the donation page (though i think it aid something about having to wait a week before it'll work), and some important dates on the calendar page before i fell asleep. I'll try to get more on there today and refine a few things, but it might be a bit slow 'cause making nice websites from scratch and a few generic templates is pretty new to me.
