I was never a big fan of The Onion. Too sensitive.

It's sort of funny. On one hand, it's hilarious because this guy lacks the emotional intelligence to understand bereavement and his pragmatism makes his job very difficult. I can't completely relate tho this joke, but my own pragamtism can be frustrating for people. It's an endearing and yet frustrating quality, I suppose. On the other hand, it's a stereotype, so, of course it's not entirely accurate. But hey, it's just a joke and the onion makes fun of everyone. And before people start complaining about how The Onion creates an inaccurate portrayal of autism, guys, who ever takes The Onion seriously?

I can't really see my mother getting upset over a stranger getting ridiculed (not that she would even get the satire), but I can definitely see her going off about the autistic kids she knows and the weird things they do after watching this video. She probably doesn't realize it herself, but she does that mostly to make herself feel somewhat superior to others.

Parents who don't even have autism themselves are getting offended? Why?

My mum would laugh at this. I might show it to her, actually.

Some parents just have nothing better to do than complain about things that might offend their precious little snowflakes.

Yeah, that was funny, and accurate. BTW if you're too sensitive to laugh at a parody of yourself, seek help.

I think the Onion could make Lou Gherig's disease amusing.

Yeah, that's pretty much how it would go if I were the one reporting.

the portrayal of the autistic reporter was letter perfect.

Aside from that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play.

I thought both their reporter with autism videos were funny. The Onion is known for being irreverent and they never discriminate or lay off touchy (or even absurd) subjects.

I think both videos are brilliantly done. I love The Onion, and avidly follow it. But these two are my favorites, by far. The Onion is satire, and well written and delivered. It is equal opportunity humor as well, they go after everyone/thing. Often, a piece may be a little painful and funny simultaniously...but, well, thier brand of comedy is good for the soul.

My only complaint is that we don't get a new autistic reporter video of this caliber on a daily basis.
