When I was a kid it was animals of the wild type. Then, pick and choose any video game I was into at the time. Now, it is anything to do with survival, combat, fitness, and farming. (They are all forms of self preservation and independence.)

I'm obsessed with psychology, learning about all the symptoms of different mental disorders...It's very interesting. I have another "obsession" too, with Germany. I don't know why, I just love learning the language, the history, everything. I've been to Germany a few times and I have literally cried when it was time to come home!

Trains of all kinds have been my special interest since I was to young to remember. I tend to gravitate to mostly trains made by Lionel from just after WWII thru the late 1970's. They are my "go to" coping mechanism when I am stressed and on the verge of a melt/shutdown. Here is a pic of my new train layout I am building. Dodger

My own interests mostly consist of geeky things like computers, gaming, technology, etc, but for some reason, most autistic people i've known before we're into cars or such. (Ofc that's only my side  )

They change frequently and right now I have several, all vying for my time.

In the past they've been:
Trains
Dinosaurs
Video games (especially Pokemon and Legend of Zelda)
Abstract Algebra
Computer programming (now my job so it just feels like work)
Making model terrain for tabletop wargaming/role-playing games (no longer have space for it unfortunately)
The Alan Parsons Project

At the moment, there's:
Growing plants. I wish I had more to work with than a few pots in my apartment... but next spring I might look into some DIY hydroponics stuff for peppers (I'm trying to crossbreed a new variety as a hobby).
Cooking
Trying to understand people and how social interaction works (frankly, the more I understand how NT's function the less I see it as something to aspire to, but that's another topic for another time)
Tabletop roleplaying games
Space colonization/science fiction

Here's a list of my special interests:

The music of the 60s British Invasion - The Kinks in particular
The music from the 1910s to the 1950s
Slot Machine music
Video Game music
Punk Rock
Disco
80s music
Classical music
I'd like to get into today's Canadian artists.

I've gone through a lot of special interests in my lifetime but I always come back to four "core" obsessions:

a) Music of the 1970's (my avatar is the cover of Big Star's first album - one of the best 70's bands)

b) Vinyl records

c) Books

d) AS

Other.

For the past several years, my special interest has been film, specifically genre film - horror, exploitation etc. Also, outdoor pursuits - climbing, free-diving (I got into this at age eight, so it's probably my oldest special interest), archery, hunting, light-weight camping, foraging.

I'm disappointed that drawing cartoons or being into cartoons and animation in general wasn't on the list, so I put "other".

Although my drawing cartoons is more than just a special interest. It's a talent that I just seem to have been born knowing how to do. I wish I could upload some of my drawings on WP as proof, but it doesn't work for some reason. :(
