Provided it didn't have horrible side effects, I would take it in a heartbeat. I'm tired of working so hard at things other people do naturally...

I don't really think a cure will really change you. I was apprehensive about going on medication. But it's temporary and it has actually changed me in a good way. OK, so if you want to stay an unorganised, apparently lazy, forgetful mess than be my guest. But even the increase in social skills is nice. But I'm still me. I still socialise when I want and prefer to be on my own. It's just me and my interests. And I'm even more absorbed in my interests.

So, if the cure was a 6 hour pill then it wouldn't make much difference. It might not even work on you.

how do you know you lack empathy?

is it based on NTs feedback?

if not, is it because you don't feel sad when others are sad...

I would have to see if it would affect me in a positive manner, but I probably would not take it.

Yer, that's basically how I feel about having AS. I hate having to work on things others do naturally and all the big things too what others have to work for too. So, if you're an Aspie who fears being different, we have twice as much work to do.

No. Computers are autistic (literal, not deceptive, don't talk) and computers are taking over the world. So aspies are in a much better position than NT's to benefit from this shift in environment.

This thread is gold! Haven't had a good laugh like this in a hell of a long time. Thanks, guys.

In all seriousness, you should all take the cure, it's really annoying having to take your non-existent feelings into account. I mean, I don't have empathy either, but can't you take the effort to at LEAST fake it? At this point I'm really starting to think you're all playing dumb just to be as*holes. Well, it's working, you're as*holes.

I can fake empathy.

Why would I want to take a "cure" that could make me into a completely different person, possibly one I don't even like or recognize? It would also change my life completely and not necessarily in good ways.

After the way I've been treated by the so called "normal" people I don't think I'd even want to be normal if I could.

Dude, there is no cure! The question was if there was a cure (hypothetical). The only thing that needs to be cured around here is your obnoxious behavior.

Actually you are the one that is clueless. It is obvious you don't have empathy but you don't need to be mean about it. It is described many times elsewhere on WP the problems of faking NT behavior. I am not dumb, I was being polite--apparently you don't understand this.
Also calling everyone "as*holes" shows your true intent here, so now that you have had a laugh find something else to do.

No. Except for my weight and anxiety, which I am learning to cope with, I am happy with who I am. Having autism gives me excellent traits a lot of NTs don't have.

I definately won't take the "cure" if it existed. If I did, then who would I be? Some boring NT? No offense to any NT's out there in the world, but the "cure" sounds worse than the "condition".

Besides that, I don't think that there's anything to be cured of. I just think that being an aspie just means that I'm different from everybody else around me. It's sort of like compairing people with different skin, eye, or hair colour. Would you have a disease if you had blue eyes or brown hair? I just think that modern day society just has to accept that there are differences that goes beyond skin level.

No I would not. I consider Aspergers to be a blessing. :D I'm happy with who I am, and I don't wish to change that.

Which traits? Wonderful traits such as being awkward and annoying?
