You're likely not the only one to get mad over the OP, but I'd concentrate on the productive discussion that's followed for pages. Why argue with a troll that won't return when you can participate in a productive discussion about an actual topic?

Point taken.

It's my Asperger's.

a bit of a rude OP post, but yeah i mean i kind of agree - you shouldn't use it as an alibi to be rude, but on the other hand if you have aspergers and are unintentionally being rude letting them know you have it will actually help them understand (hopefully) and they won't take your unintended rudeness personally. that's not an excuse, it's just an explanation.

Wise words and point taken.

I was about to put down some choice observations - but yes it's better to sit quietly and enjoy your burger and leave the troll hungry than hurl food at the caged thing - which is what it was actually after...

Yeah, I agree with that. Sometimes, it is warranted though. A few examples: I have trouble recognizing faces so I will not greet people whom I meet randomly. So when someone mentions it, I say something like: "you know, I am so bad recognizing people that I sometimes don't even recognize my mother" and am not even lieing. These are things I cannot change. However, there are things which I can change, like in social skills, a lot is just a protocol. A computer can learn DHCP, I can learn small talk enough to keep my call center job. It kinda frustrates me that people just give up on things like that.

I find small talk to be quite useless so I don't really want to learn how to do that......I see nothing wrong with being quiet until I actually have something to say. So I did not really give up on it, I am just not intrested.

To be clear, the OP wasn't talking about deliberately being rude and using AS as an excuse at all - he was saying that if grubby little autistic people want to share the light with polite society then they had better learn their damned manners...

I for one am quite angry at that. I'm hugely impessed that the members here subsequently turned the insult aside and generated a real rational discussion but I'm still angry.

So you have signed up on this site and you claim to have Aspergers. Maybe you have it or maybe you do not have it. You just do not really know and you are self diagniosed Aspergers by simply signing up for WP and saying I am now self Diagnosed

Aspergers is a lifestyle choice and by having Aspergers you have special powers. You can read people's minds, predict the future(maybe the winning lottery numbers or winning sports teams or the questions for the Exam paper), the possibilities of your special abilities/talents are endless.

I have Aspergers, you have Aspergers, my cat, my dog, my family and friends all have Aspergers and all embrace the Aspergers lifestyle.

Aspergers is a super ability, not a disability. With Aspergers you may have special super human talents/abilities.

Well good for you owning it like that Dark Lord. WTG, dude! You go right ahead and be an Aspie superhero... I'll even make a cape for you... just for being SUCH an inspiration.

I even know what your super powers are: ultra sarcasm, xray derision, and the ability to rain on the parade of others in a single bound...

How does one become so incredibly jaded in a mere 21 years of life? You're bid to become an anti hero is well under way. I may add angry, disaffected youth onto that as well. Possibly emo - but with a dark side. Obviously. You already claimed ownership of that... silly me.

Well there you go - here I was thinking you were just a tool - but you go and prove you actually have a very good grasp of the situation - well done!

Actually I think aspergers is a mental disorder.....not that I have an issue with having a mental disorder, I have others to. But yes though there are some positive things that come with it there are still quite a few disadvantages. but that is how I see it, I don't think its a lifesyle choice, since I never chose to have aspergers.

I totally messed up. I got the psychiatrist diagnosed type of Aspergers Syndrome. The kind where I go to therapy, take medication and have to make special accommodations to function and complete tasks. I didn't know that the self-diagnosed type of Aspergers Syndrome had superpowers and zero accountability. This sucks. Can I make an exchange?

Well I am more then self diagnosed...the counseler I have been going to but only have one meeting left, thinks aspergers is the correct diagnosis as well. But yeah still not official.....and I do not think I really have super powers, I can sense more then the average person. Like I can feel what kind of weather there is even in a building with no windows, I am extra sensative to the energy from storms and just minor little things not a lot of people seem to have awareness of. And I don't really feel that I have zero accountability.

I was trying to be facetious based on Dark_Lord_2008's obvious trolling. I do know what you mean about sensing storms. The change in the ionization of the air, I guess. I like it, too. I really prefer rain. Thunderstorms and lightning are very exciting and energizing.
