I can help with building a list of potential contacts and organizations. I'm in Southern California so contacts would get more vague the further they get from me, but I can take a stab at it by just doing extensive internet searches. Should I focus more on contacts near the LA and LV areas or throughout United States?

Please do. There's no reason to let geography limit your selection when we have the Internet!

Yes, I agree it would need to be tweaked. A challenge! It is definitely difficult to twist it into something short and snappy that covers the full descriptor needed for a title.

Thanks KenG for the ideas - I like how you've managed to incorporate both the themes of a WP meet and an Autism meet into the one title, very clever.

Visit the Autistic Planet
Visit the Right Planet
Orbiting the Right Planet
Planet of the Autistics
Planet for the Autistics
Planet for Autism
Au-Planet
Right Planet - Autism Summit
Forming the Right Planet (although this sounds more like a documentary title. Actually a lot of these sound like documentary titles. Drat. :? )

Actually.... I'm growing to like Au-Planet.

Au-Planet Convention
Au-Planet Summit
Au-Planet Meet
Au-Planet Festival

("The Right Planet" could be used as a documentary title/to make a documentary about it)

This is really moving in a cool direction. I like the Autistic Planet twist.

@Ken G, how would you like to get involved?

I'm still coming to Israel, you know. I'm hoping to come around May time.

Sorry for that interruption. Normal service now resumes as usual. ;)

Sounds like a neat idea.

I'd like to throw down with the suggestion for a more centralized location. Travel expense to Nevada or California will be rather prohibitive for Americans who live out east.

I have some festival organizing experience, but it's all low key DIY art music and culture sort of stuff. Not big convention center red tape kind of stuff.

Anyway, the other big suggestion would be to make certain the location has a lot of small rooms and nooks and crannies to congregate in small groups. Big crowds all the time will be over stimulating for a lot of people.

"Aut-Some Fest"

I think this whole concept is especially beautiful and exciting because so many people seem to think that autistics are incapable of working together.

There are many things that I am utterly incapable of doing, and many things that I am very, very good at. However, in order to be successful, I rely on those who have strength in areas I do not.

As Temple Grandin said, "The world needs all kinds of minds." I'm not going to slave away trying to be good at something which I am not interested in. I will only fail miserably.

Autistics are VERY good at certain things, and not so hot at others. It is wonderful that we happen to all have different strengths and talents.

What are your talents, and how can we pull together to make all our talents compatible? There is strength in numbers! Let's work together, each doing what we love, to form a strong chain!

I think this should be the overall theme of the event - working together and utilizing our specific strengths to make up for out weaknesses.

The world needs all kinds of minds. Together we are strong; a vital component of human progress. Let's celebrate our vitality, and show the world that we are here for a reason. We are on the RIGHT planet!

AutWorld: All Kinds of Minds Working Together

It would really be AutAmerica due to its positioning in the United States.

How about holding it in Switzerland? Then it would truly be neutral. ;)
