Can't embed it, but it's If I Had a Boat by James Vincent McMorrow

I think it might be about a woman, but I just hear it being about life.

Hazel O'Connor, 'Will You' from the movie 'Breaking Glass'.

If you listen to the words you'd swear she was singing about an aspie relationship.

You had me at this. This one is perfect.

Since this weekend is all about the 50th Anniversary of the British Invasion I wanted to choose a song from a British Invasion group.
This can be interpreted as a song sung by a male NT concerned for an female Aspie he deeply cares for.

Oh, don't it hurt deep inside
To see someone do something' to her?
Oh, don't it pain to see someone cry?
Oh especially when someone is her

Silence is golden
But my eyes' still see
Silence is golden, golden
But my eyes still see

A talkin' is cheap, people follow like sheep
Even though there is nowhere to go
How could she tell he deceived her so well
Pity she'll be the last one to know

Silence is golden
But my eyes' still see
Silence is golden, golden
But my eyes still see

How many times did she fall for his line?
Should I tell her or should I keep cool?
And if I tried I know she'll say I lied
Mind your business, don't hurt her, you fool

Silence is golden
But my eyes' still see
Silence is golden, golden
But my eyes still see

But my eyes' still see
But my eyes' still see

Something feels so strange tonight
It's not wrong but it's just not right
Some hidden complications, fill me with hesitation

And it gets so dark in here
I can't see through doubts and fears
Walled in by expectation, I need a deviation
Change in perspective, alternative view
To help me see clearly, observe something new

All I want is a window to look through
All I need is a window to look through
It's the only thing that I really wanna do anyway

All I want is a window to look through
All I need is a window to look through
It's the only thing that I really wanna do anyway

Outside the world's so dangerous
It's hard to find someone to trust
Fills me with reservation drives me into hibernation
I watch what's going on
But I don't want to belong
Leave me in my introspection
Safely behind protection

All I want is a window to look through
All I need is a window to look through
It's the only thing that I really wanna do anyway

All I want is a window to look through
All I need is a window to look through
It's the only thing that I really wanna do anyway

Looking through windows at the world
Looking through windows at the world
Safe behind windows from the world
Safe behind windows from the world
Watching my window world go by
Just watching my window world go by
Without my window who am I
Without my window who am I

All I want is a window to look through
All I need is a window to look through
It's the only thing that I really wanna do anyway

All I want is a window to look through
All I need is a window to look through
It's the only thing that I really wanna do anyway

All I want
All I want is a window to look through
All I want
All I need is a window to look through
All I need
It's the only thing that I really wanna do anyway

All I want is a window to look through
All I need is a window to look through
It's the only thing that I really wanna do anyway

I don't know if anyone here ever listened to The Monkees, but the songs penned by Mickey Dolenz really speak to me.

"Zilch"
"Goin' Down"

"Randy Scouse Git"

Quote:
Now they’ve darkened all the windows, and the seats are naugahyde
I’ve been waiting for an hour, I can’t find a place to hide
The being known as Wonder Girl is speaking, I believe
It’s not easy tryin’ to tell her that I shortly have to leave

Why don’t you be like me?
Why don’t you stop and see?
Why don’t you hate who I hate
Kill who I kill to be free?

"Just A Game"
Quote:
While I’m here, and you are in my state of mind
My state of mind is changing places all the time
And I am lost
Trying to get across
Another time

"Shorty Blackwell" - this song is highly recommended - it's just pure psychosis and fun
Quote:
Shorty Blackwell, Shorty Blackwell
Be friends with me, be friends with me
Shorty Blackwell, Shorty Blackwell
Be friends with me, be friends with me

I’m feeling very bad today
Another cat came in to stay
He’s eating all my food
He’s speaking very crude
He’s gonna change the mood

I’m feeling very bad today
A red balloon got in my way
It followed me around
And never touched the ground
What can I say?

He built a house upon a hill
Ask him if he’s happy, and then give him his pill
He’s going mad

He bought another car today
Ask him if he’s happy, then turn the other way
He’s going mad

He’s going mad
He’s going mad
He’s going mad…

I’m feeling very bad today
Another cat came in to stay
He’s eating all my food
He’s speaking very crude
He’s gonna change the mood

Black and shiny, now you’ve finally
Gotten everything you wanted
And you’re taunted by the power
That you really don’t want any more, ba-ba
More, ba-ba

Everybody’s talking faster
Hurry up, get me a master
I don’t have much time to lose
And besides, I’m polishing my shoes

Crossing the street
Watching your feet or you’ll die in a thunderbird night
Wishing with all of your might that you’d read the newspaper that you forgot to buy today
How will you know what they do when they say?

I’m feeling very bad today
Another girl came by to say
I can’t think of a word to tell you what I’ve heard
I’ve been away
I’ve been away
I’ve been away…

I am, I am, I am, I am, I am, I am, I am I, I am…

(btw Shorty Blackwell was the name of Micky's cat :) )

Some of you already beat me to Pink Floyd's Keep Talking.

A few songs from The Wall really get to me, Another Brick in the Wall Part III especially. ("I don't need no arms around me/And I don't need no drugs to calm me/I have seen the writing on the wall/Don't think I need anything at all.")

There's been a lot of mentions of that song. I can see the draw.

I made a whole playlist of songs that I call "Speak Up.... Or Not" - Songs that are about the gift or curse of being silent.

1. Sara Bareilles - Brave
2. Garbage - Silence Is Golden
3. Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence
4. The Alan Parsons Project - Don't Answer Me
5. The Monkees - Words
6. Simon and Garfunkel - Sounds of Silence
7. Tori Amos - Silent All These Years
8. Tears for Fears - Shout
9. The Romantics - Talking in Your Sleep
10. Duran Duran - Is There Something I Should Know?
11. 'Til Tuesday - Voices Carry
12. Enigma - Silence Must Be Heard
13. Delerium - Silence
14. Assemblage 23 - Silence
15. The Go-Go's - Our Lips Are Sealed
16. The Cranberries - Zombie
17. Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight
18. Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill
19. Weezer - Say It Ain't So
20. Alanis Morissette - Thank U
21. Audioslave - Be Yourself
22. Chris Cornell - Scream
23. Pink Floyd - Keep Talking
24. Hanson - Yearbook
25. The Ting Tings - Silence
26. Escape Club - Shout the Walls Down
27. Katy Perry - Roar
28. Melanie C - You'll Get Yours

I resonate with a lot of Britney's songs but this one in particular, Asperger's-wise:

I met my old lover
On the street last night
She seemed so glad to see me
I just smiled
And we talked about some old times
And we drank ourselves some beers
Still crazy after all these years
Still crazy after all these years

I'm not the kind of man
Who tends to socialize
I seem to lean on
Old familiar ways

And I ain't no fool for love songs
That whisper in my ears
Still crazy after all these years
Still crazy after all these years

Four in the morning
Crapped out
Yawning
Longing my life away
I'll never worry
Why should I?
It's all gonna fade

Now I sit by my window
And I watch the cars
I fear I'll do some damage
One fine day
But I would not be convicted
By a jury of my peers
Still crazy
Still crazy
Still crazy after all these years

Eels - "Gentlemen's Choice"

Slept in all day
In dirty sheets
The stain on my shirt
Been there for weeks

When I was young I had a dream
I would be held in high esteem
I thought I'd end up a gentleman
Distinguished, respected, refined

The life that I've led
It's better unsaid
The world has no use for my kind

Too many years
Getting my way
Never let anyone
Have their say

How could I think it would work out?
Never a question, never a doubt

I thought I'd end up a gentleman
Accomplished, revered and admired

The life that I've led
I'm better off dead
The world has no room for my kind

Harvey Danger-Flagpole sitta is one of those songs that hit home to me about the feeling of not feeling normal. well, at least thats the vibe I get from this song. Its one of the most relate-able rock songs I've heard in a long time. The lyrics,"I'm not sick, but, I'm not well" reminds me of how I feel when people think that autism is an illness but its not. I love it :D
