I'm certainly not a "blind" person, and I do considerable research into autism. I've been interested in autism since way back in the 1970s. I used to read case studies of cases of autism from the 1940s.

At times, people with autism can adapt to the point where they don't seem "disordered" at first glance....that there is a "difference," rather than a disorder. But I don't believe people with Aspergers/autism are the "next step" in human evolution. One just doesn't see drastic changes over 3-4 generations---since 1943, when "autism" was presented to a relatively wide professional audience.

The "rise" in autism incidence is caused by a greater awareness of autism in general, as well as the desire for some people to obtain a diagnosis for various reasons. Until 1994 (when the DSM IV was presented to the world, autism was really not a "spectrum." It was only Autistic Disorder plus Childhood Degenerative Disorder, basically.

I spoke at around age 4, when the shrink made me by tricking me. I was told "I present well" but that the effect wears off quickly and I soon give up the game. what do you call autism with speech delay these days?

I was diagnosed with Schizoid Personality Disorder when I was 15.

But was diagnosed with autism at 3.

Plenty of Level One people had delayed speech. I had delayed speech.

it was opposite with me. schizoid dx first, then AS. there must be a connection somehow. AS and Schizoid both have problems with neural pruning, too much for the latter and too little for the former.

Society ingrained social stigma of prejudices of people with mental health and disabilities continues today. Being Autistic and facing social rejection throughout life never changes. Praying and positive thinking are unlikely to change a person from being Autistic to not-Autistic. Only people with Autism and various disabilities will understand how hard life is to try to fit into society and get rejected all the time. White washing Autism and pretending it is a non-issue changes nothing. Mild to severe Autism is still a significant impairment and people with Autism face social rejection in regards to higher rates of unemployment than non-Autistic population and find it harder forming friendships and relationships and acceptance by society.

It's impossible for the "rise" in autism to be an evolutionary manifestation.

Any scientist worth his/her salt would know that.

So, scientists and evolutionary psychologists are never wrong? The think about my argument is that there is little hard evidence that either could present to disprove my belief.

There are certain innate gifts associated with Autism. If you're not familiar with some of those so-called gifts, then I suggest you take it upon yourself to research this. Those are clues as to where we as a group are heading.

Again, I do not post to be ridiculed by those who are close-minded. I'm here to present a different perspective. If you do not share my views, then simply ignore me and move on. I mean no disrespect.

Autism is a neurological disorder and a disability. If Aspergers doesn't fit that criteria, then it stands to reason that it's something else of its own.

Nobody has been disrespectful??? Look at your own comments that I underlined, you blind fool. You obviously are not one the enlightened minds that I've seen associated with this so called disorder, so please ignore what I've written and go back to wallowing in self-pity about your years of hardship. Also, proofread your posts before making them public and maybe people will take what you spew more seriously. Oh wait, nevermind.

Okay well you just lost all credibiliy in my opinion.

Please do so more research. I think you are disillusioned.

You have come to this forum and called all of the most well read and respected members uninformed and then claim that you have been disrespected. At this rate you won't be long for this site.

I guess Thor isn't "Valiant" enough to come back.

He hasn't posted anything anywhere on WP since that last post on this thread.

Oh well.

I think Mr. Valiant Thor just might have been someone else on WP at one time.

I forget the name. But this person was also into "autistic supremacy," and said similar things, and was similarly abusive to those who didn't share his opinion.

If you lurk around the right places on the internet you can actually find a lot of them.

My thoughts exactly. It was like deja vu reading those posts.
