Back to autism causation and the anti vaxx movement.

1. Every decision in life carries some risk even if it is infinitesimal.

2. Most often there are exceptions to the rule

If you are perfectly healthy with no physical disabilities you get out of bed because it is "safe". There is an infinitesimal chance of getting out bed today could be fatal. You might trip hit your head and die, by some freak of nature the exertion might cause a heart attack. It is plausible by some unknown freak of nature in a few cases out of millions of vaccines given a handful of them might cause autism or something like it.

As of right now, there have been dozens of studies and no link has been proven. If you are to believe the anti-vaxxers it is all a conspiracy by government and drug companies to cover-up a plot to deliberately poison children so that the drug companies can make a profit by selling drugs to cure the poison they created. Such a plot would involve thousands upon thousands of professionals being so unethical that the would go along with such a heinous plot or and being very gullible. It strains credulity.

Right now an epidemic of measles has been linked to unvaccinated children and there is government and other pushback. Due to this, the anti vaxx movement is modifying its public rhetoric. They are talking less about conspiracy theories and more about parental rights, less about being anti-vaccination and more saying they are ok with vaccines but in more moderation then is currently recommended. A lot of us do not believe they have really changed their opinion. Since jngyslate mirrored some of the modified talking points people are ASSUMING jngyslate is a full bore anti-vaxxer.

I won't armchair diagnose you back because I have the sense to know none of them are insults and I don't want to drag people down with you.

By the way, here you go, here is an article that claims that heavy metals can cause genetic damage. See, I can find people saying the opposite thing too. But that STILL doesnt mean that even the people that wrote THIS article are right. We should be looking at all things and saying "yes, this is possible."

I already provided you with a study.

That study does not claim vaccines cause autism. Heavy metals causing genetic breaks is not the same thing as the specific heavy metals that are given in vaccines, in the doses administered, breaking specific gene(s) and mutating it in a specific way to cause autism.

Most of my post was agreeing with you about absolutes.

The study says that random materials can upset human genetic code. It proves my point that random materials can have side effects that we dont know about yet. Which is the only point that I was trying to prove in this topic. I chose this study in particular because it talks about metals, and vaccines do indeed have some metals in them, though not of the same kind.

Watch what happens if the Anti-Vaxxers win!

Watch Diphtheria come back! Watch Whopping Cough (Pertussis) come back!

The DPT shot is for Diphtheria, Pertussis, and Tetanus.

Trust me---you don't want to get Tetanus----you almost always die a very painful death from it. It's not dissimilar to Rabies in its symptoms.

Measles was almost eradicated in the "western world" until this outbreak. It's only in the low thousands now----but that can easily turn into the tens of thousands. Measles is not really serious MOST OF THE TIME....but when it's serious, it's REALLY serious. It's not like chickenpox---where people used to deliberately expose kids to chickenpox because it was such a "mild" disease.

Why is it that some people will take a conditional phrase like "there may be an extremely small possibility" and perceive its meaning as "it is absolutely certain"?

This is a rhetorical question, as there may be no logical answer for such unreasonable behavior.

because NOBODY knows where you are getting an "extremely small possibility" from. You sound just as bad as the people saying that it is "absolutely certain". Scientists test foreign objects and find that they cause side effects in the human body all of the time, large and small. Why are you assuming that all side affects from any foreign object will without a doubt be SMALL side effects? Doctors may have just not found these side effects yet. History has shown us that anything can cause a side effect, and that it may be small or large. It is foolish to mislead people, rather be honest and say "anything can happen, lets be CAREFUL with vaccines, lets space them out. People make mistakes." We're talking about injecting growing BABIES and CHILDREN here.

The incidence of major adverse effects from the DPT vaccine is about 1 in a million.

I mean dont get met me wrong, dude, please. I understand where you're coming from. Some doctors and scientists have deemed all of this stuff "very" safe. But when we look at HISTORY. the HISTORY of all scientists and doctors, we find medical discoveries showing that things that were once "safe", suddenly we discover that these things are dangerous. So I think, in light of that, we should approach this with caution. Especially since the people we are injecting these things into, are little babies with still developing and vulnerable immune systems and organs and brain tissue.

Read up on the history of diseases from the 19th century and before.

And of polio before the Salk vaccine came into being.

And about smallpox specifically.

The Native Americans suffered a high degree of mortality because of Measles contracted from Europeans because they lacked immunity to Measles.

The benefits of vaccination far outweigh the harm done by vaccination.

I've said numerous times in this topic that I am not against vaccination! Lol. I am for vaccination. But its not being considered with the utmost CARE. Which is what we should be doing, considering we are sticking these things in our babies. Yes, vaccines help stave off crazy bad diseases. But we dont want to give our babies any other problems. We need to approach this with care. Not tell everyone that there is "absolutely one in a million chance for concern". Because we dont KNOW that. There are no absolutes here, history has shown us that new discoveries are found all the time, and like i said before, things that were once deemed safe, found to be not so safe. My stance has always been, lets tell people "we dont know, it looks safe now, but lets space these vaccines out, and make sure that people understand that there are POSSIBLE risks." We MUST take into account that these are not grown adults that we are injecting this stuff with. It CAN impact vulnerable babies in a different manner.
