Natural healthcare - herbal medicine, homoeopathy, ayerveda, yoga, meditation, chinese medicine, etc etc. And all the problems caused by conventional healthcare. And natural skincare and household products and cosmetics, branching off from that.

Music. Especially modern/popular/rock... name a band and I'll give the info. ;)

I've had a lot of obsessions in the past, an incomplete list in general order of appearance...

Fashion dolls (like Barbie but other types too)
Nintendo and Super Nintendo
Webdesign and Photoshop or similar programs
Anime (specifically Sailor Moon but it branched off into a large list of other animes)
Japanese Rock and eventually JPop, Kpop, Cpop, etc
Anime Conventions and Cosplay
Dance Dance Revolution
Piercings
Gothic Lolita fashion
The Sims (and of course The Sims 2 years later)
Internet Messaging programs
Message boards and journaling websites
Industrial music and clubbing
Military history and fashion
Blythe dolls (as well as BJDs like Super Dollfie and Pulips)
Warhammer 40K
DVD collecting
Dystopian novels

Current obsessions include...

World of Warcraft (still mildly obsessed with this one)
History (specifically the 1500-1600 era)
Genealogy and related DNA testing
Celtic traditional music and Celtic punk

I might miss a few I've forgotten over the years, but this should be fairly complete:

* collecting legos (which were built and then never taken apart; one of my biggest melt downs as a child was over someone taking my legos apart)
* collecting action figures (didn't "play" with them, I inventoried the figures and their accessories habitually)
* bicycles
* collecting comic books
* NES games (I beat some of the early games very quickly by identifying patterns)
* reading (sci-fi / fantasy mostly)
* collecting pen-and-paper role-playing games (most of which I never considered playing)
* tabletop wargaming (especially but not limited to warhammer and warhammer 40k)
* anime (NEVER dubbed)
* symphonic metal bands (most of which I didn't actually enjoy listening to)
* trains (mostly steam and model railroading of the same)
* fighter planes (at 15, I could recite from memory the regulation procedure for attempting to pull an F-4 out of a flat spin)
* ferrets
* military uniforms
* military history
* 1950's - 1960's American cars
* Star Wars
* Star Trek
* Babylon 5
* X-Files
* Stargate SG-1
* Usenet
* PC RTS and RPG gaming
* MMORPG's
* building computers
* web design
* php/mysql programming
* electronic music
* celtic music (traditional, punk and pipes & drums)
* genealogy
* british history (esp. Scotland)
* Native American history and culture
* pattern recognition (in everything from items on grocery shelves to programming code to ceiling and floor tiles)
* counting (usually the same things that trigger the pattern recognition)

That was me five years ago. I didn't work at a dog care facility, but I spent all my free time reading about dogs, especially pits and other bully breeds. I still take pride in being able to identify most dog breeds, including ones that are not recognized by the AKC. It can be an easy way to make conversation at the dog park. People love it when you correctly identify their rare breed dog.

Yes! But then the downside is times like the other night at work... when my coworker and I were sharing an admiration for smushed-faced dogs and he said "I don't know why someone decided to breed the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel" - in reference to their having less smushed faces than the standard King Charles. I immediately gave him a ten-minute history lesson on breed revitalization and the enthusiasts who wanted to recreate the original dogs of King Charles, only to be met with a blank stare and the slow-dawning realization that it was one of those pesky "rhetorical" questions... :lol:

Well, gee, let me think. It's been so long since I've had any time.

I'm going to go with:

my blackberry
the Tudors
celebrity gossip
genealogy
AS
american history
british/sussex history

I don't know. I have a ton that are hovering on the periph begging for attention and no time to devote to exploring them, which is probably one of the worst forms of torture to an aspie.

Of this variety:

privy-diggers
victorian england
historical architectural styles/floor plans
stalking michael crichton
vaccines
wine
the US Presidents (i started with Washington and had to quit)
domesticated birds
photography (i dabble now)
quantum physics
my book (heh)
the old south
creole & bayou culture/new orleans history
american revolution (we need another one)

The color green, for some reason all of the clothes I've purchased since January have been green.

Except under garments...

I have too many interests, that are in various stages of dormancy or activity, to list all of them. I just realized today that I have developed another one that seems to be different than the others. Back in December I bought a one year membership at the DeYoung Museum/ Legion of Honor in San Francisco. Some of the Art is crap, but most of it is interesting and/or beautiful. There is a painting there from 1900 by William Merritt Chase called Portrait of Miss D. It's a portrait of his daughter in a long black coat with a period hat on. I have been to the museum 4 or 5 times since December and I always look at this painting longer than anything else. It is a beautiful painting but I can't put my finger on what makes it special.
