My great great etc. grandfather was Sir William Prendergast-Dowling, a medical doctor who investigated the effects of lead poisoning and was knighted for his work.

Prendergast WD. 1910. The classification of the symptoms of lead poisoning. Br Med J 1910:1164-1166.

His father, who's name I can't remember, was a navy captain who was part of the garrison that guarded Napoleon on St. Helena. The obituary of Sir William says he owned Napoleon's walking stick, which was given to him by his father, who was given it by Napoleon.

For your information, that picture is of the Japanese imperial family.

Sorry...I meant that as a compliment since I like the picture.

Alex, WP founder: Is he (or 'are you' if you're reading) related to Max Planck (1858-1947), the great atomic scientist?
I hope so; I think Dr. Max Planck is outstanding! Does anyone know, or would ask Alex? I dare you.

I went to grad school with Max Plank, directly descended from THE Max Plank. He looks a lot like him, too.

I never did ask him about WP, though. (but I did ask Alex here... and got no response)

That's cool! Max Planct was an influential scientist. I was just curious is Alex was related - a long shot I suppose, but possible.

well, Max Planck spells his name with a c and Alex Plank doesn't, so they might not be related.

my most famous would be Philo T Farnsworth.

i'd say aspie traits for sure.

i think about him quite a bit, and get kind of depressed that he invented the t.v., and i can't even wrap my mind around how one works. my genetics got the aspie part but not so much the genius part :(

Sorry to rekindle such a old discussion post but I thought I would add my famous relatives.

Sir Moses Montefiore( Philanthropist Knighted by Queen Victoria and worked with Nathan Rothschild). His Uncle David Mocatta is related to a lot of the English Royal Family, Most Presidents of the USA and other famous people in history. I can trace it way back.

Simon Sebag-Montefiore( Historian on Young Stalin) Married to Santa Palmer-Tomkinson(sister of Tara Palmer Tomkinson It Girl) . They are friends with Prince Charles, Gordon Brown and other well-known people in the Royal Family. The first public event that Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles attended was my Cousin's wedding in 1997 at Bevis Marks Synagogue where Moses Montefiore was a member.

My Cousin Simon put the Spice Girls on the Front Page of British Tabloids and this is when they became popular.

My Dad, he was Class A coach of the year in 1989. I was on QVC to represent the company that I worked for at the time.

That's about it.

Lucy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australopithecus_afarensis and probably a little bit of Genghis Khan (Ginger)
Main article: Descent from Genghis Khan
Zerjal et al. [2003][40] identified a Y-chromosomal lineage present in about 8% of the men in a large region of Asia (about 0.5% of the men in the world). The paper suggests that the pattern of variation within the lineage is consistent with a hypothesis that it originated in Mongolia about 1,000 years ago. Because the rate of such a spread would be too rapid to have occurred by genetic drift, the authors propose that the lineage is carried by likely male-line descendants of Genghis Khan, and that it has spread through social selection. In addition to most of the Mongol nobility up to the 20th century, the Mughal emperor Babur's mother was a descendant. Timur (also known as Tamerlane), the 14th century military leader, claimed descent from Genghis Khan

My paternal grandfather was a cartoonist. He drew some cartoons that were featured in The New Yorker, among other publications. He provided the cover art for a couple of issues of The New Yorker not long after the publication was started. He also illustrated quite a number of books.
I never met the guy, as he died ten years before I was born, but from what my dad has told me about growing up with him, I doubt he was on the spectrum. He seems to have been a pretty socially active guy. My dad does most likely have AS, and he has said that he and my grandfather didn't have a very good relationship. Apparently, my grandfather always wished his son (aka my father) could be more social and/ or successful.
In any case, I have seen his work. He was a pretty talented cartoonist, though he was never *that* famous.
