I lied about someone awhile back and was caught in it last year, and lost a good friend because of it. In my case, it was more wishful thinking on my part and kind of developed a life of its own. This was something I now bitterly regret. Those who stuck with me know it wasn't with malice on my part, but the one whom I most want to apologize to won't hear me out. This was actually out of my character for me as most of the time I was (and still am!) a very straightforward honest person.

I'm usually too paranoid to lie. I notice a lot of people lie in situations where it could be easy to figure out they were likely lying. I really only lie if I absulutely must and I always make sure there isn't enough information or reason to suspect that I could be lying. I don't take risks with BS that could come back and bite me.

A lot of times I lie because I am paranoid, I get all worried about how people will react if they know the truth about some things so I can't bring myself to be totally honest.
