Well, look at it this way. If someone wanted to fool himself that he's autistic, then there's something wrong with him, right? Maybe that would get him a step closer to figuring out what it really is. Or maybe closer to finding a disorder that comes with cool meds.

43 on the one my psychologist had me take. I "lost" points (as if getting higher is better?) on fascination with dates, remembering birthdays and phone numbers and having too much imagination. I "aced" all the social questions.

It surprised me. I lived with a guy who had classic autism so know that very well. I'm obviously not autistic, and I thought that was what the test was measuring! I thought I was picking answers that anyone would commonly pick. IE - NT answers (though I didn't know that term at the time).

After being surprised by the results I then discovered the whole spectrum thing and how Asperger's relates to classic autism. I did a bunch of other related tests like the ones linked in this forum, scored even more strongly on those. So because of that test I came to believe it likely that I've been an aspie for the 30+ years I've been alive.

First time I took it I got a 41, today I got a 45. First time I took it, I was surprised I scored so high. I went back and checked my answers, but they all fit me perfectly.

My "official" score, when I went for an assessment, was 33. My wife scored me at 31 (she only scored 14 when she did the AQ Test about herself).

Anyway, I now have an official diagnosis of AS.

The first time I did the AQ Test I got a shock. I had never made the connection between AS and myself. That was in January 2009. Since then, a whole lot of pennies have been dropping, and many things in my life have begun to fit into place.

It's great to get answers finally.

About 2 years ago when I took it, I scored around 28-32 most of the time. When I look at myself now, I felt as if I've entered a much stranger world than before. Having gained that knowledge, I gave up my addictions with ease and have abandoned material thinking in most areas of my daily life. People seem to be easier to speak to and I have become more calmer and open to others.

When I take the AQ test nowadays, I score around 16 on average, which is unusual for a guy like me diagnosed at a young age. I still have some autistic traits, such as halllucinogenic responses to numbers and words, metaphoric speech, distorted sensory perception and minor issues with communication. Thankfully I've dealt with it and its been a positive experience so far.
