I love this. Really powerful statement! You have a real talent with promotion and writing here!
Hmm... as for what I can do - I'm really not crash hot at organizing or managing things unfortunately. I tried to help run an Autism support group here, and I have run choirs in the past, but the pressure gets too much for me and I often crash and burn. I'm pretty good with writing things though and words - like coming up with snazzy titles and catch phrases, and that sort of thing. I often help my parents out with property advertisements and the like, and I used to help with the advertising of a business my mum founded (in conjunction with mum, who would be doing all executive function type tasks).

Also, I enjoy working with others and bouncing ideas off each other to come up with writing promotional material (for example mum and I work really well together as a team doing this, we tend to hire property agents but then take over and create the promotional material ourselves because we do a better job at it hahaha). If either of you guys want somebody to bounce ideas off of, or to come up with verbal/visual concepts, just let me know.
Just whatever you do don't put me in charge of organizing anything! Hahaha.

It sounds like we have a lot in common. I can't do all the PR on my own.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this!!
I will start compiling a resource list this week
i am extremely detail-oriented and good at getting stuff sorted. i tend to take charge when something needs doing, but if things need to be done a certain way i need specific direction. otherwise i'll invent my own procedure which invariably annoys people.
in person i tend to be a calming influence and good at mediating.
i am more of a person of action than a person of ideas.
i have no idea how any of that translates into a task lol.
also, i've spoken in front of large crowds and i enjoy public speaking (i am a teacher). but i am not an expert on autism and i don't have anything interesting to say on this topic so it's not really applicable for the conference. but if you need people to introduce speakers or make announcements and such i've done that at conventions before.

Yeah, probably with the exception of being good at organization/running things. I work best with people who are good at that, because I can never handle it on my own. I'm good as a behind the scenes person - like an ideas or advice or editing person so to speak. Or, in a actual function/group activity sense, a teacher/trainer.
Ok ANOTHER IDEA. I actually think this could be really cool! I mentioned that I've organized and taught choirs in the past, well I will volunteer myself to host (in conjunction with someone who can help me out with the admin) a chorale workshop. I know there's a lot of members on here who sing in choirs, or just like singing full stop. I can actually teach the choir, and then we could perform something live at the end of the conference for the benefit of everyone else to watch. I've done this sort of thing before on a much smaller scale. I can source music, teach parts, run auditions, etc. If there was someone really good at conducting who could conduct the actual performance that would be great, but bypassing that I could conduct it myself if required,

Lol I'm so glad you people exist. I'm totally an ideas person (with the exception of teaching/training people in some area).

On the final night you could do a big sort of celebration/gathering which everyone attends.
It could have speeches, group drama, chorale, and dance performances (just one song/dance/act for each, which can be prepared for by several short rehearsals spanning the time-frame of the conference - so people still have plenty of time to do all the other conference stuff), an art awards ceremony, etc. We could do a preliminary sort of surveying task to get an idea of the sorts of numbers interested in the different fields so the workshops could be decided according to that (obviously we couldn't cater towards every single special interest area in one night). We could try to broaden the workshops so as to involve as many people as possible within each field.
People could sign up for the different workshops according to what their interests are, and everyone could be involved in the final presentation/talent display. You could film the final display live, have speeches from well known/famous autistic people interspersed with the bigger group performances, and perhaps even have it televised if you could get media sources. It would be a great celebration about all the positive contributions autistic people make to society.

With the performances and stuff that would just be one part of the event. The main body of the event would still be made up of socializing, meeting people, fun activities, etc, and people who were interested in performing/anything that could be presented on the final night could arrange say two to three 1 hour rehearsals during the time of the conference to rehearse/organize.
With stuff like choir it's not about who's the most talented/a talent contest, it's about people of all different skill levels getting involved and creating music together. It's about creating something beautiful from combined effort.
I'll be expecting you to be in my choir aussiebloke, no excuses.

I can't organize anything to save my ass, I suck at foreign languages and spelling, I struggle with structuring essays and summarizing things, I'm clumsy and uncoordinated and I REALLY suck at dancing despite 11 years of dance training (required as part of being a performing choir), I'm terrible with ALL things technological, I am completely incapable of presentation and proportioning things properly (a.k.a. my artwork). Oh and I suck at trying to build/fix stuff or make sculptures.
Nobody's perfect
btw, sorry everybody for clogging up the thread! Got over-excited with an influx of ideas there.
