I was totally into anime as a child, I could easily identify myself with various characters. Nowadays I like to see again what I used to like in my childhood, maybe to understand myself a bit more... So, I was into things like Saint Seiya, Sailor Moon, Ulysse 31, Ranma 1/2, Lady Oscar.
I discovered other animes/mangas like Angel Sanctuary, Love Hina, Utena, Elfen Lied, Strawberry Panic but I'm less enthusiastic than before. Though I still can identify myself with some characters, for example Amane in Strawberry Panic (my avatar), the kind of lonely and calm person with masculine traits and androgynous appearance.

I've stumbled upon some seemingly vain animes that turned out to have a few deeper philosophical implications, which I liked.

I think that the most touching was Rin's route in KS, it was a single big simulation of what Autism is like, despite that it was never directly mentioned that the character is Autistic. Instead, it was left for the player to pick the clues and understand the message that the maker tried to deliver.

i love "CARTOONS" i hate "ANIME"

anime is practically all the same....

cartoons could be anything...

i hate anime voices and the same faces they all have.

bob's burgers is my favorite cartoon right now...

since it has the actor from "home videos"

who i have recently realized is the actor in archer....so no i like that show a little more. (though the show is a little too crude for me)

I generally don't like anything where it is just people standing around talking and joking about their interpersonal issues...how boring and I find it difficult to follow the dialogue or relate at all. I imagine most anime shows are like that

...but I have seen mainstream anime movies like Spirited Away, Metropolis, Tekkonkinkreet, Princess Mononoke, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the sky ...those were amazing! So full of creativity and storytelling in an autism friendly sort of way.

I had this period inbetween 11-15 when I thought all cartoons and anime were childish. I can say I kind of like it now! Back then my only reference material was Pokémon and Sailor Moon. When I came back to it I started watching shows like Cowboy Bebop(fantastic voice acting in the english dub BTW), Ghost in the shell and Trigun and got really drawn into it. I have the box set of Serial Experiments Lain too.
And Hayao Miyazaki is great...just great.
Im also a Brony.I kind of like the show but the fandom makes me stay. Adventure Time is fantastic too.

PS I dont know if I would call the Rei archetype autistic. Schizoid could be applied as well. Asuka might be Borderline....esque :? and Shinji might be Avoidant.

Wow! Someone else who has actually watched Lain!
Personally, I do like Anime. but not Manga. That is because I simply read too fast. Even though I read some comics as a child, it just goes too fast to be enjoyable.
I have found a great many twists & turns in plots, the NON-American outlook on things is though, is its main selling point for me. However, some things like One-Piece are simply TOO cartoonish for me. Could just be the age factor. I am also not a huge fan of a lot of Mecha shows.

Sincerely,
Matthew

I have been hooked on anime since a colleague introduce me to Inuyasha and the process of downloading series. I used to watch western cartoons but I never really got into the story because they were mostly shown out of order and they seemed to have a similar plot formula that bored me. I also did not like watching dutch dubs which where pretty bad back then. I also like subtitles cause I find it hard to follow conversations in movies/series even if they are in my native language.

Oh puh-lease... Who hasn't? ¬_¬
It was kinda weird.... but I liked Boogiepop Phantom more.

Incidentally... yeah... I watch anime (and read manga). I watch ultraviolent anime. It is how I get my fix of extreme ultraviolence.
Some of my favourites include Gantz, Elfen Lied, Higurashi and Berserk.

I have aspergers and I'm somewhat into anime. My favorite anime show is Sword Art Online. My favorite part of anime is the art style. I try to avoid certain parts of anime because anime has a tendency to be pornographic. I am currently reading a anime graphic novel of Naruto. One of these days I'm going to cosplay as Kirito from Sword Art Online at a comic or anime convention.

I tried to get into anime but find it quite hard. Yeah I notice that some anime characters have Aspie traits (L from Death Note comes to mind).

I was about to say the same thing. He does seem to have Aspie traits. Probably why I liked him so much as a character! Him and Light were my two favorite.
