This seems quite poignant about now .

I'm not totally comfortable on *any* forum.
I suspect this is the case with many auties. 8)

I used to think I was a NT and so did some others. At that point I wouldn't have had an issue with it, except maybe feel for them.

Also being in relationships with people who couldn't form intimate connections with me left me feeling like I wouldn't be able to be happy with such people or have fulfillment. Which sadly is true.

I suppose that kinda confirms that I wasn't the issue but I also feel like I've dated the worst kind. Unfaithful uninvolved. I know not everyone is like that, in fact that's a minority. How did I stumble upon them is a miracle.

Then again when the truth is spoken one has to wonder if it won't facilitate the same pathways and if it's worth it. You can't pretend it's not true. Where does that leave the level of emotional involvement and care?

The OP is probably the only person in creation who feels like a misfit on WP for that particular reason. That he is high functioning, and not low functioning.

In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king. So on WP, where the two eyed folks are absent, we HFA/aspies are the one eyed people who lord it over the blind subjects (so to speak) and tend to rule the roost. The opposite of being the misfits.

Huh?

"Bats"?

Do you mean the wooden sticks that athletes hit balls with?

Or do you mean the nocternal flying mammals?

Either way I never said anything about any friggin "bats". You need to get your eyes checked. I seriously wonder about you for saying that. LSD flashback much?

Here in the US its a common to hear the expression "he/she rules the roost" (like he is a 'big man on campus', or he/she dominates the household or whatever).

A "roost" being where you might find a....ready?....a roostER. Lol!

The roost in the expression means a "chicken coop" (or maybe some other social bird like pigeons. But usually chickens). If you "rule the roost" then you are "high in the pecking order". Also a chicken related expression.

Earth to Rexi...English language expressions often come from farming and chicken farming!

Maybe naturalists use the word "roost" for bat caves too. I dunno. But as you go through life you might wanna assume that common expressions derive from common mundane economic activities (like chicken farming), and not from rare arcane activities(like naturalists studying bats).

@Pepe

Rexi is the one who needs coaching for making a faux pas here. Not me.

OK. I admit that I was "mixing my metaphors" (one eyed humans with chickens, but most English speakers world over would know what I meant).

Im saying this all in joking tone. It just seems funny to me that you would see "bats" in what I said.

what is reassess, i thought i knew, but now i don't
from here i see nt's pretending to be hfa, they're far better at it then the others
the nt solution to all your problems; ressources (such a nice misguider, send them into the woods and close the door)

no problemo, being ignored is standard treatment and a special honor :jester: on wp

I get a similar feeling, everywhere I wanted to belong to. I consider myself liberal but most liberals are too much for me (usually too PC, SJWs attitudes and intolerants) which is dissapointing, some liberals might consider me libertarian or conservative but I'm not fond of conservative ideas nor libertarian ideas either, I feel I'm in the middle of everything.

^^ Likewise, politically. Both sides dismiss me if I don't tailor my opinions.

Bats can be included in any business. In this case, bats are blind, so lacking eyes would be not much of a lack, would it?

Bats use echolocation to 'see' like autistic people use other things [and bats] to view the world.

Indeed one eye is less of a handicap for chicken than none and more of one than two.

you're playing in joking tones. Dirty~

Bats are good at public oral presentations.

struggling to find your place
that you call home

should be a line from an anthem dedicated to ASD community
perhaps an adapted version of Bob Dylan's "Like a rolling stone"

struggle to fit in here, there and anywhere
among even people who are labeled the same
let alone those who are winning the game

welcome to the life ASD
do NT people really understand or appreciate what its like to live this disability?

I'm fine with whatever my place is, here.

I only feel like an outsider when there's a presumption we all have Aspergers, or high functioning abilities.
