Why doesn't the government take this seriously and attempt to regulate what goes into our food. My intuition says there is something they are not telling us and that there is something they can do about it but they don't.

When in doubt look for greed.

To put it simply, we live in a society lead by mass consumerism.

Until they get "caught" or begin losing money from things like say health food trends they(Capitalistic America) will continue to produce products for fast and cheap costs.

I know for a fact that soda such as coke a cola used to have sugar in it, now they use high fructose or sucrose syrups. why? a drop of that syrup matches up to a teaspoon of sugar. it is both cheaper and faster for production.

another example is trans fats. trans fats are severely dangerous and have zero health benefits, in fact quite the opposite; trans fats kill. However it is cheaper to "hydrolyze" oils and make them last longer ... it is basically fake saturated fat.

in reality New York and California among others has been working to ban trans fats for years now. What the trans fatty acids do is take up the same slot as saturated fats however when a trans fat takes its space it has zero health benefits and actually increases poor cholesterol.

now why would we willing fully poison ourselves? we wouldn't. but our government would. the FDA is a joke. they were created to stop things like this from happening but sadly like all things corrupt they now instead promote things like "phizor" and "lipotien" which are drugs to lower "bad cholesterol" ...

the truth is NATZI or not ... most Americans especially the Natives are suffering from over consumption and under education. The truth is America in general is laughed at by most of Europe because we allowed our government to hijack us and reprogram us into believing things that are not the case and become diversified and distracted while they post a 740 billion dollar bail out because of already dirty politics...

me myself i know a lot because i chose to read and research and also listen to my elders.

As for the whole AS do not like to look into eyes thing ... i was told that years ago so i purposefully began to force myself to look into peoples eyes ... it is a matter of will power and also the fact i am sick of "NT" doctors telling me what is "wrong" with me ... what is wrong is their opinions if you ask me ... I can speak clearly and i certainly can maintain eye contact ... why? because i have a f**k you authority mentality but also mostly just felt like proving them wrong ... it is not hard to learn social skills so long as you begin at stage one ... thus my person quote ... get up, get out, get a life ...

But, people have been eating dairy and wheat since America was founded. Why is it just now starting to affect people?

No!

People have eaten domesticated Wheat and other agrarian products for 10 thousand years. America has existed for less than 250 years. It was a sporatic/seasonal part of their diet for far far longer than that. Thats the lifespan of
40 Americas.

It totally changes the gist of your statement when considering a sensitivity to wheat.

What you might want to look into is corn. Thats something that Europeans have not had lengthly exposure to. Not much longer than the founding of America and really only pervasive in the last few decades.

Corn products are used everywhere. You'll find corn starch, corn syrup and corn meal in just about everything. French fries? You know those battered ones? Corn in the batter. Milkshakes? Thickened with corn starch. Same with gravy. Corn syrup is very common in anything with sugars.

I wouldnt be surprised if some of the yellow food dyes came from it either.

Interesting about the corn. Of course, now we'll be ingesting less of it and inhaling more of it, in the form of ethanol emissions.

EDIT: I realized this after I wrote this. My dad (the classic oddball, hard-to-get-along-with BAP if not full on Aspergers' old man) moved us to Florida from Indiana because he thought he was GOING TO DIE of some mystery disease and my mom wanted to be a widow near her family....he moved and was fine. His hands and feet stopped breaking out into blisters and he could breathe again. But when he went back to visit, same thing:
His suspicion was that he developed - or had an inborn sensitivity to - you guessed it - corn.

Anyway, that's neither here nor there. People can have sensitivities to corn, wheat, milk, protein (e.g. P.K.U.) or, like my fiance, the drying agent they use for Garlic and Onion powder.

What there HAS been is a rise in is the manipulation of food product. Processing, storage, and now genetic modification. Even looking at the label, it's hard to know what you're getting. The US FDA can list Monosodium glutamate as "natual flavor".

I'd be interested in studies of autism in, say, Amish populations.

From Phrenology to Irisology topic

I find it ridiculous that human pigment would have anything to do with intelligence, problem solving or creativity. A few posters were able to spot this and commented long before I did.

This thread looks more like a poll on eye colour. There have been other threads concerning height, weight, gender, age, fashion style, looks, and favoured pizza toppings, amongst others. Coffee klatch topics.

I can change my eye colour with contacts and hair colour with gunk from the drug store. Or I could go the Michael Jackson route and dye my skin and get plastic surgery.

I have somewhat blue eyes, although they have changed to more a gray/green in the past 5 years. They also have multiple colors in each, ranging from brown to blue!

Actually, who are YOU to say anyway!?!?!? You can NOT change your eye color with contacts! They COVER IT! You can NOT change your haircolor with stuff from the drug store. They hurt your hair, or cover it. Although I don't know if the person WAS trying to make the connection. I, like most, simply answered the question. The FACT is that, if you think about it, your comments are pretty stupid. Eyecolor and haircolor are from genes that originated someplace, and others similarly came from there. They AREN'T colors, but our perception of expressions of chemicals placed there by the expression of various genes/circumstances. ALSO, SOMETHING happens to the light that isn't reflected!

Skin color DOES play a part in the metabolism of vitamin D. Wearing a white sheet won't give a black the same ability. Blacks might have sickle cell, and painting them white won't solve that. Whites are more likely to have diabetes and painting them black won't prevent that. Do people with blue eyes see differently? WHO KNOWS!?!? Apparently, they ARE more sensitive to light. Does that affect melatonin? If so, it COULD affect B and tryptophan, etc.... How will THAT affect things? BTW make your eyes APPEAR blue! It will NOT be the same!

Sometimes the littlest thing can have the biggest affect.

I will repeat that I saw no correlation, but I think your statements are just pretty dumb, to put it all down to color. I'm sure you could find something that looks like brain tissue ALSO! Who don't you use that to replace missing braintissue in people!?!?!? Do you SEE how silly it is to say that something that LOOKS the same is the SAME thing? As I said earlier.... If ONLY it were that easy!

Mine are blue and I'm a diagnosed aspie. Now, can someone please explain why eye color and AS are supposed to be tied to each other in any way whatsoever since I don't feel like wading through a 10 page thread right now?

They are not tied together at all. The OP is just trying to stir drama and get emotional responses from people, apparently.

I think the original question was an honest musing, but at some point Nazis were referred to and the discussion went into an obsessive tailspin.

Can't we all just agree that Nazis are horrible and return to discussing eye colour?

Actually, it is more like the world, rather than just americans. EVERYONE has their government hijack them! The problems ARE real, although the government DID create them. BTW if you INSIST that everyone ELSE is unaffected, and the problems are NOT real, explain why others are ALSO suffering from similar problems.

Are those the SAME elders you were talking about earlier that "reprogram" people? It really is amazing how dumb some are, but stupidity knows no age!

First off America literally was hijacked. Unlike other countries we had a huge issue in the 2000 election where Florida had to be recounted a few times due to "technical difficulties" and in case you are unaware President Bushes brother is the governor of FL.

And then the following election was cousin vs. cousin (see Skull and Bones)

Also there are obvious ties to many major money making families and the oil/banking industries so do not tell me otherwise. In England it is different, France it is different, even China and Russia ... they were not hijacked.

As for my elders ... how dare you even try to debunk over 90+ years of living. Those elderly people are not only a second hand link to history but also have more patriotism in their pinky's than any kid of our generation ever will. Both my grandparents and many others BUILT AMERICA and to even attempt to debate that would be pure stupidity on your part. Unlike our times "dessert storm, and war on terror" they fought in WW1 WW2 and also the Spanish Civil war something most educations systems seem to forget about ... a war that was the precursor to the horror to come known as WW2...

Also the "reprogramming" was referring to the mass consumerism and materialism marketing that is all over Americana... e.g. "But that's not all" tactics, and yes it has spread.

France(notoriously healthy skinny society) just in the last few years has noticed and all time high of childhood obesity...

And as for your comment toward my eye contact ... you can kindly go into a corner and jerk it because i would not lie about something as powerful as that statement. unlike the mass majority i believe in evolution and also will power ... just because something makes you nervous or is uncomfortable does not mean it is physically impossible to train yourself accordingly ... it was not easy but it happened.

I am an actor and also a future politician so kindly do me a favor and revoke your statement with an apology otherwise you will just plain have to deal with ignorance on your list of unfavorable qualities...

Oh yeah and my bad for not properly typing the word NAZI ... frankly i usually spell like i hear/pronounce so it is not uncommon for me to have those errors ... tis a side effect of being self educated...

I have hazel eyes, they were blue until I was 3. My Aspie dad has blue eyes.

One thing I have noticed working with children, is some autistic children with a distinct kind of clear blue eye. The kind of eyes that really get your attention, very clear and blank. My friend's daughter has such eyes, and a few autistic behaviours but she is only one and hard to say yet. But those eyes make me suspicious that she is "one of us...."
