I scored a 38. Some of the situations I've adapted to over the years, so for those questions I took a step back and looked at what I would do naturally rather than what I force myself to do now. Not sure if you're really meant to do that though.

I also find it interesting that your profile says neurotypical. It seems like most people here who claim to be AS/HFA score above a 26, while those who don't will score below that number, with just a few minor exceptions. I think there may be something to this test afterall, even if some of the questions are worded in ways people don't like.

Sometimes the cause-effect could be the opposite - perhaps some people claim to be "neurotipycal" or "not sure..." because they score below 26 (or 30, or 32...).

I had to be very careful to read the questions correctly because some are worded so that you have to switch between positive or negative responses.

44 in case I haven't yet said it. (too lazy to look)

The score is an indicator of your tendencies towards the autism spectrum. According to Baron-Cohen (2001) this test in a field trial worked such that 80% of the people who were dx'd ASD and took the test also scored in the 35 range. (actually to be specific it was an average) That tells you (somewhat) the believability of the test. Of course there are hundreds of other factors that go into this.... etc, standard disclaimers....

And I used a "system" to remember. Agree is first in the alphabet so it is to the left and Disagree is to the right. The middle ones were just variants of the left/right words. I struggled more with the concept of finding something difficult versus actually want to or caring to do something.

At the top of the page of the test it says:
Quote:
In the first major trial using the test, the average score in the control group was 16.4. Eighty percent of those diagnosed with autism or a related disorder scored 32 or higher. The test is not a means for making a diagnosis, however, and many who score above 32 and even meet the diagnostic criteria for mild autism or Asperger's report no difficulty functioning in their everyday lives.
