I was once on medications and I never want to go back. My doctor wants me to go on Lexapro, but I have chosen not to.

I'm on Lexapro 10mg and I think it has started to work finally, I'll see what happens.

No medication for me. First, I react strongly to medications and can't even take one Tylenol pill without feeling like crap all day. Second, I believe that many medications (not all) are just a mask that treats symptoms, rather than addressing the root issues of things. For example, could I take a pill for anxiety? Yes, it would probably lessen my anxiety attacks. But my anxiety attacks are just a symptom of my Asperger's mind. So the real solution, which seems to be working for me, is to use talk therapy to better understand the way that my mind works and to develop appropriate coping mechanisms for dealing with future stressful situations.

I take an SSRI/antidepressant (Celexa) and birth control pills. If I forget to take my Celexa, even for one day, my mood drops and I become very negative towards myself.

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.

I'm currently on Risperidone, and Zopiclone. Both are taken in the evening, to calm me, and then help me sleep.

I've been on Citalopram/Celexa every day for the past half a year (started on 20mg, soon ramped up to 40mg). Obviously, they aren't a cure for my depression or aspergers, but they do help me deal with stuff better. I really wish I'd have been prescribed them years ago. Would have helped level out my moods in school.

The withdrawal symptoms are horrid though. It took them five days to sort out my prescription recently, and I felt like everyone was against me again, coupled with constant headaches and near blackouts. I almost blacked out in the shower.

I never took any meds for my autistic qualities, though exercise and vitamins and supplements helped .

Meds came into play when I developed a chronic pain condition and had serious insomnia. I take tramadol, vicodin, trazodone, lyrica, Imitrex and also concerta for ADHD.

I noticed that tramadol helped me feel more comfortable at work when I had to deal with people.

Methylphenidate 30mg in a morning, and then 5mg in an afternoon.

Mirtazapine 15mg at night.

I like a spoonful of Buttercup syrup every now and then too. It gives me good dreams.

I am on no psychotropic medication right now. Right now, I take Estrace and Androcur for gender dysphoria and Tussionex and Dulera for postinfectious cough. I've also been taking Mucinex to help with chest congestion.

I checked on how many people in the general population take meds every day... the figure I found was 61% taking meds daily for a chronic condition.

So, weirdly, our stats on taking meds daily are lower than the average.

I don't think it's much to do with autism, though; we're also younger on average, and younger people take fewer meds.

On 17 scripts. 2 of them [Prozac, lorazapan] are related to my autism, the rest to slowing down the cancer cells.
