Oddly enough, even though I don't recognise my own voice in recordings, the sound of it makes me cringe. Not cos I'm too loud, either....just because....

I know exactly how you feel. I always think "my god that voice sounds so weird" then "wait is that me?" when context comes up...

I get shushed by my mom way too often, but more because she doesn't want to hear what I have to say. I think its 'cause once I get started, I can't stop, so she's stopping me before I begin. (I can't help it. It's like a program. If I start to say something I can't stop 'till its fully said.) And I either am too loud or too quiet most of the time. Too quiet more. Can't win...

I do tend to talk loud at times, but only when I get into the moment or when I need to sound more assertive when taking an authoritive take on a situation.Sometimes being loud can be a way of asserting power or authority.

I'm told I often talk almost with a yell, but my voice sounds normal volume to me. Weird....

Now, you see, people being purposely loud in order to exert authority has the exact opposite effect on me. I always figure if someone has to shout to make themselves heard, they don't have anything worth listening to, so I generally stop paying attention. I tend to listen to the folks who calmly and rationally state their case and then sit down.

That's my upbringing, though, I guess. Dad always said never to trust anyone who comes on strong about anything because if they have to make a show of being something, then they aren't.

Regards,

Patricia

Shouting it out topic

My brain lacks a voice modulating factor. I cannot tell if it is too loud or soft. Even my shispering and typing can be noisy. :?
