That describes me as well. Oddly enough, I have excellent spatial ability driving a car, but not good otherwise!?

Do you happen to be excellent with directions? Anyways, I have found that my non-verbal intelligence is uneven as well. My strengths and weaknesses lack uniformity.

My IQ is 145. I'm not a genius by any stretch. But I am very capable. I have intelectual pursuits and I work in a technical field.

I tested somewhere around 132, so I'm very bright but not what one would consider a genius by any means. I have interests that span from "intellectual" pursuits to "non-intellectual" pursuits. I'm interested enough in archaeology to study it formally and hope to find an academic career in the field, but I also garden, knit and write fanfiction. Even these latter interests, however, can take on an intellectual edge. For instance, I often work anthropological theories into my stories to give the various universes I write about more depth.

Regards,

Patricia

Yes, exceptional! I inherited my dad's compass-like sense of direction. I've rarely been lost and people ask me for directions all the time (I'm like a magnet for lost drivers!)

I am of good intelligence in some areas (ie language) but not in others... my IQ turned out to be 91 because I found the test very annoying, all these dumb geometric shapes etc.

Interests: People, psychology, music, plants, animals, art, travel, reading novels (sometimes girly trashy ones), I have been known to buy those celebrity magazines... :)

I like people watching though in childhood my people interests didnt arrive until a bit later... I didnt find them interesting until about 12 or 13.... :)

Apart from my interests in animal behaviour and in biology, my interests are very not technical, in fact I like to keep the technology in my life simple. I dont have much patience for it.

I do not have a mind that systemises well, I am messy and chaotic.

The best IQ results are in dyslexia assessments, this is because they are taken at an intellectual standpoint and the fact they are, IQ itself is divided into specific catergories, one is literary IQ, second maths and the third I think is thinking and logic. My IQ in the assessment a month ago was theorised at 125 - 130 becase it was a peticular bad day. on that basis it was at 120 in the results howwever my assessor said it was most likely higher.

I have high spec interests, computer making and unintellectual computer gaming and spongebob for some reason

My IQ is between 139-145. Savant/Genius but not insanely high.
My savant skills are in a few areas. One was identified as a child which is music. I have atypical pitch (not perfect and hard to describe). While I can't read music, I can pick up an instrument and play it at a proficient level within a few days. My perception of music is different as I see it as colors/waves and tonal and harmonic layers. I have difficulty reading music because of NLD issues, but I have an intuitive understanding of music. Basically, I am a natural improvisational musician. I have played or know how to play: french horn, synths (since I was seven), organs, guitars, bass guitar, double bass, mandolin, banjo, mountain dulcimer, certain flutes and whistles, harmonica and piano (though more proficient with rhodes and wurli's). My focus is in jazz, improv rock, and folk styles. This is more of a normal interest and lead me to being somewhat social.

The second savant skill came out when I was in middle and high school. I have an incredible grasp on history, social science, demographics, and geography. I guess I would call this an intellectual interest.

The last skill developed when I was in college and has been determined my career. I have a highly advanced knowledge of regulatory systems. Needless to say I have a law degree and work in government. This is an intellectual and technical interest.

You know the old saying "You so smart, why ain't you rich?"

In my case it is because I could never bring myself to do the nasty things it takes to become rich, even though I know how to.

The same is true for other activities. When I take up something I am usually pretty good at it but I never go past that.

Why? Well, if you want to be "the best" golfer or pool player or archer etc then you must devote your life to it and I can't do that. Devote my life to playing pool or playing the piano 10 hours a day? Why?

So I am a jack of all trades and a master of none and I ain't rich.

If you have an IQ of 145 - That puts you in the top fifth of the top 1% of people.

I.e. on the 99.8 percentile.

I only managed 144, but anyway...

Welcome to the brainy club

Myself I tend to fall into the numerical range of 82-89   Yet, I'm fairly good with computers, no not in the programing aspect but, more than likely hardware configurations as such as, I'm currently working on building my own computer system at the moment.Anyways, I've always had a problem with IQ tests as, I feel that don't always reflect an accurate picture of one's true skills as, althroughout life we learn new skills therefore, IQ is not concrete like a brick but, rather intelligence can go up or down due to various factors therefore, I may not be some genius yet, I'm okay with what I can and can't do well Honestly!! !! :)

I was one of the many who voted the first option. Anyone who knows me knows that I know all kinds of stuff about all kinds of stuff I shouldn't know about, i.e. politics, world hisory, psychology, etc.
The only IQ test I have is from facebook saying 128, but I've just always known that I was smart, and so does everyone who knows me.

If that is the case then I believe your real IQ must be much higher than that.
If your IQ was 82 then you wouldn't be interested in building computers.
My guess is that your IQ is at least 115+

Wombat, much thanks for the kind words as, upon my initial diagnosis of Aspergers 82-89 is where I happened to fall on during all of the tests and all but, personally I did not feel the results were right as, I've seen a great many people do more things than what some test result says..In fact, a friend of mine whom also has Aspergers not only has a master's degree in English literature but, when he was tested on the IQ test many decades back, speaking of the 50's here he wound up being ruled out as mentally ret*d.Therefore, IQ tests are not that valid. To this very day my friend loren still writes a great many things and in fact, he's actually been trying to find a publisher for his works which, I've actually read some of it and such was very well written..

Trust me! If you were some dumbass with an IQ of 82 then you wouldn't be here on the forum giving your opinion with insight and good grammar.

You are MUCH smarter than that.

Don't put yourself down.

I have had 3 IQ tests (real, not online) done and all with different outcome, ranging from average to above average. but I consider myself to be of average IQ as I'm very slow about some things - it sometimes takes me a few days to fully understand what someone meant by saying something for example. so there.

my interests are sort of unintelectual too mostly, some of them are academic and some are just plain shallow lol. I might appear very intellectual but thats usually because of my memory for facts and figures, and the tendency to overanalyse.

but anyway, I think that even if you have a non-academic interest the level of obsession (if you're on the spectrum) just makes you appear intellectual.
