Do you think alcohol affects you differently from most?
i started drinking when i was 13, and when i had had a few drinks i found i was able to socialise more. people did not think i was so weird, the attributed everything to me being drunk. it was nice to be accepted.
i would not be so scared of being in a crowd of people, tho i still did not like it.
i would go for walks when i was drunk as well, mostly in woods where it was dark. my friends hated that but they let me go becuase it made me happy, they just insisted that i have a phone with me.
i become more relexed and my OCD side becomes less important to me, so i can be more 'normal'
Alcohol does nothing for me... I think it makes my AS worse, as in I space out and start not saying anything because I just feel like I can't think straight. So while everyone else is laughing and happy and buzzed I'm getting spacey, heachachy, and feel like crap. That's why I can't understand why people drink so often and have such a great time. I have a better time getting a coffee buzz.

I went through a phase of teenage drinking when I was 14-15 and I can say that it definitely affects me different than most people. Like a couple of other people have said, I became short of breath. I'm not sure why this happened. Once the ambulance was called because apparently my breathing became labored and slow & I was laying on the ground having hallucinations about someone trying to attack me, not responding to people (although I don't remember this, it's just what I was told). As it turns out I had alcohol poisoning and after that night I never drank alcohol again. Still though, even when I wasn't this drunk after a drink or two I would find it hard to breathe. That's what I'm confused about but hey, I'm never drinking again so it doesn't matter.

I think it does. I have blacked out a few times on amounts that most take in their stride. Personally, I find it affects me to behave in a bad way to the extent it has been involved in bad decision making and the loss of relationships. I react to it in the same way as some do to food additives. ie weird behaviour. It takes several days to leave my system. Therefore, a couple of beers every three days means my decision making is permanently affected to some extent. It is hard/impossible to undo the damage caused. I am not sure if its the alcohol or an alergy to something else in any alcoholic drink. I suggest Aspies monitor carefully how they feel for the days following a drink to see how long it takes before your nervous system returns fully to normal.
