I've always prefered essay exams, too. I've never understood why my classmates don't like them. It's so much easier to pull out strings of connected information than individual pieces of information.

Maggiedoll, they didn't really have standardized tests when I went to school to the same extent they do now. So it was a little different for me.

Interesting point about how teachers vs students perceive you. All of my teachers thought I was exceptionally bright, and I was definitely one of those students that stick very fondly in some of their memories. I didn't really understand why, though. I think it was partially that I could relate to teachers better than peers, and I think it was partially because I was eager to learn everything. Apparently many kids aren't.

I remember in high school thinking that I should drop down to regular English, only to find that both my parents and my english teacher discouraged it. She called me one of her best students. My thought was, "if that were the case, why am I not getting As?"

A lot of people seem to think I'm bright/intelligent/smart etc. + when I got tested for an intake thingy at some mental healthy thing, the test results were that I was "very intellectually gifted"...

But i honestly don't see any of that in me.
It always feels like I have 1000 short circuits going on in my head, like I can't comprehend anything.
Though when I hardly pay attention in classes I still manage to get passing grades (except for subjects I wasn't interested in/just didn't get), though perhaps not always perfect.
