Do I have Aspergers? Do you relate to any of these things?
I tried the Aspie Quiz.
Some comments that mainly have to do with (in)sensitivity questions, these are apparently missing.
There is a question "Do you enjoy gossip?" Well, I do, with other aspies, that is. The reason is that I don't really care about the detrimental effects of gossiping. As I understand, it does hurt other people's feelings, though.
A couple of questions about love or caring could enrich the set. For example, Aspies probably do not care about the loss of beloved ones the way NT's do. At funerals I tend to play a charade.
I don't relate to my offspring as most other fathers seem to do, I find them a bit foolish, the way they play with their children, the efforts they make. Interestingly, Aspies seem to care about animals and plants more than NT's. I love cats to bits (Stragely enough, when I was young, my mother once made me kill our cat's offspring, then I did not really care, just did it without thinking. I also bullied kids, though the times that I was bullied outnumbered the ones that I did bully.)
I also noticed that I am relatively insensitive to pain, or to anesthetics. I saw my tonsils being taken out, live, because they did not numb me up sufficiently. Another time they overdosed me before surgery. Consequently it took ages before I woke up afterwards; my parents thought I would never make it alive.
It mentions "Do you tend to get so stuck on details that you miss the overall picture?" This questions does not cover visual details. However, I have eagle eyes. My optometrist noticed that my vision is over 100% (off the charts). I can't stand it when it is messy, or things look messy. Hence I prefer using LaTex over Word, for example. When I do the cooking, I always clean up the stuff that I use, as I cook. My parents loved me when I was young, my room always looked immaculate!
I noticed I shut down the blinds at my office during sunny days. A week ago I noticed a colleague not shutting them down, and I thought, "how does she manage in such glaring light?" I need shades when the sun shines, else I will shut my eyes. Many holiday pictures of me when I was young show me with my eyes almost shut, whereas other kids did not seem to bother about the sun.
Lastly, there is a question about multi-tasking. I cannot multitask, but I can switch quickly between tasks, so I time-slice a lot. That fits nicely with easily being distracted. The point being, some Aspies are smart, and can survive the workplace because of their talents.
