Maybe I'm not really an aspie.
Just Kidding. But I'll be brave and be the first person to come out of the closet and say I actually buy People magazine and I know that Angelina Jolie is pregnant. Do I care? Not a bit.

And the reason I like to read the magazine is because it's a GREAT study of NT's. Also, you get to read about these stars who make gobs of money doing stupid things (like Tori Spelling spending a million dollars on her wedding then getting divorced a year later). It really shows me how different I am than the rest of the world, and to me that's interesting. It also shows me that they have imperfections. It's just like watching a reality TV show (I don't have TV at the moment which may have something to do with why I buy People occasionally these days) - it's like spying on people, seeing how they act. I've spent my life "spying" on people, probably so I could try to understand how to survive on this planet on which I've never felt I belonged.

Thank you for that insight! :D "People" magazine as a NT case study - fascinating! Of course, celebrities live vastly different lives to the NTs most of us have to interact with on a day-to-day basis, but I suppose they are still people after all :P

I really can't see what's so interesting about "OMG is she pregnant!" "Oh wow did he/she do that?!" though

They have normal lives like us, just less private ones

Nope, I'm not interested in gossip. But I am interested in knowing if, for example, it's true that Stephen King's stopped writing (apparently not true) because I like his work. That sort of thing.

And while it was possible, I was very interested in anything indicating a Beatles reunion.

I am going to go against the grain here. I find most celebrity gossip to be quite entertaining. Note: I did not say interesting. I am not nearly as into it as some of my friends are, but I'll occasionally read 'People'. I view celebrity gossip magazines as mindless entertainment. I know that it's crap, but entertaining crap.

I hate those mags. I could care less about the people in Hollywood. I don't even watch TV much because there's nothing there to keep my interest and I consider most of it stupid and raunchy. I'm not easily titilated and I can't understand why people get so exited over celebrities that they don't even know and who certainly don't give a crap about them. I think some people know more about their favorite celebs than about their own friends or family.
The ones I particularly hate are the "best and worst dressed" issues. Can there be any deeper level of "shallow"???
