I especially hate when people try to make me guess at things they know the answers to, and are going to tell me anyways. It seems like the whole point is to make me feel stupid when I answer wrong.
That's when you just make up a weird answer instead of seriously trying to figure out the answer. ;3

And yeah, I say "I dunno" a lot too. >_<;; I tried to be more decisive for a while, but people didn't like that either and it was too much work, LOL. So I am back to not knowing.

Translation of "I don't know" as used by me.

1. I don't care. All of the options which you have presented are of equal value to me.
2. Please narrow down the possible answers to your question.
3. Please, please, please stop asking me to form sentences. Right now, it is impossible for me.

I do that all the time. Asking me a question might go something like this...

"So where do you want to eat?"

-"I don't know."

"What do you want to eat?"

-"I don't know."

"Are you even hungry?"

-"I don't know."

I'm just not good at communicating what I want or feel and hate making decisions.

I'm pretty good at trivia questions though since I usually know the answer anyways. :?

My problem with questions like the first one to begin with, is if someone is going to ask me, then generally I figure they have some idea of where they want to go to start with, and are looking for me to say the place that they want to eat at. I don't see it as an optional question UNTIL they tell me first.

A lot of questions open up like that, and aren't really "true" questions. If someone is wanting to go eat somewhere and hasn't told me about it, or planned it with me in advance, but they KNOW they want to eat somewhere, then they must have at least been thinking about where they want to eat. No doubt about it.

I don't necessarily say I don't know... I just argue with them about why they are asking me when they must have some sort of idea of where to go.

My "I don't know" answer comes up when they don't respond or open up options to me on where they want to go, or what they want to do first. The main times I say "I don't know" is usually when someone is trying to force out answers about how I'm feeling emotionally, because generally I really don't know.
