Group Homes? (Canada)
There is an assisted living building that my granny lives in. There's a guy in his 30s that got special permission to live there but he is legally blind and terminally ill. I think the doctors gave him less than 2 years to live? At least that's what I heard. And your rent is based on your income. They provide 2 meals (you has to make your own breakfast) and housekeeping. I don't know if I'd be allowed to live there because it is based on how much you can do for yourself and I don't know if I am -that- badly off.
I googled British Columbia case worker and got this:
Case Aid/Community Service Worker
624 Oliver Street
Williams Lake, BC V2G 1M6
(250) 398-8060
If that's not in your area, you could do the same search and substitute your own city or town.
otoh, if that's not the right one for your area, they might be able to give you info on who to contact, or even what is available. Maybe they have booklets to send.
My Mom got into a really nice assisted living place (she had Alzheimer's) - it was a place that rich people have to pay for but Mom got in for free, sort of - the government paid for the assisted living and Mom's cheques from the government were reduced to a monthly allowance. She didn't pay for meals that was all included. But she had to pay to get her hair done, that sort of thing.
It is *really* worth chasing down your case worker. Right now, they don't even know you need anything. They assume you're happy as a clam if you don't tell them otherwise.

Hmm that is strange. I googled it and couldn't even get that. A lot of the entries were for jobs as case workers.
Williams Puddle is a very long distance away.
How about this?
"Toll-free health information - anywhere in B.C.
Speak to a nurse: Call 8-1-1 to ask a registered nurse your health questions, any hour of the day or night. Nurses are available 24/7 to help you with non-emergency health concerns, to discuss symptoms and procedures and recommend whether you should see a health professional."
You could call and ask for information on how to contact your case worker?

I suppose I could try, though navigating through that automated garbage is a nightmare.

When I was still living at home in Vegreville, my parents did at times nag me to get an education or a place of my own.I had a full time job and was helping pay the bills. They didnt complain too much about my room cuz they never went in it...the only time they did complain was when it was in plain view...after my siblings decided to go in and go through my stuff since sometimes I keep goodies in there was as cookies or candy....My room was always a disaster.Even now it is but Im renting and living on my own so Im the only one who enters and leaves my room.My parents are still in Vegreville, and Im 3 hours away here in Red Deer.I am not a tidy person at all and find it hard to keep things tidy since I am not very organized. My locker in high school was like a BC mountain in winter.Always bound to be an avalanche....The school might have been quietly considering having avalanche warning signs within the proximity of my locker. Most of the reason things arent tidy is because Im a packrat.I tend to like keeping things I dont need...I even still have some notes and school work from grade nine.... most of it being social and such.
Im happy having my own place...more quiet...no kids running around, nor mom yelling at everyone( mostly siblings although there were times I got an earful...dad also got yelled at times too). The family household can be very loud and chaotic with very little privacy as well as nobody cleaning up after themselves in the kitchen and such...I usually ended up cleaning up after them after being told to do so....cuz they wont do it.The whole house was always a mess and alot of the time the siblings had the whole neighborhood over causing even more noise. The only time it is quiet is when everyone is in bed...that was the time I was on my computer....surfing the web, chatting, and posting on FD or facbook or watching youtube.

I am afraid indeed threy will only take certain populations, like the elderly. Also, it is sometimes hard to ge thelp if you have multiple health issues. Like, you might get services from dev disabilities or mental health if you're on the autism spectrum, but these people will be clueless aobut chronic illness (like Lyme). OTOH, home care agencies, assisted living, etc. that cater to those with chronic conditions, will be clueless about AS and may make a fuss out of your AS issues and refuse care if they "can't deal with you".
