I have that same problem with all kinds of things when I do not already know how the call or visit (like with a doctor) is going to go ... and sometimes I almost beg people to make the call for me.

If you do not have a friend willing to make the call to the insurance company for you, send me a PM with the phone number and I will PM the address back to you ... and then you can mail the marriage certificate and be at least that much closer to getting the appointment you need, eh?!

That's really nice of you to offer! I ended up asking my mom to call, which she did and I now have the address (next step is mailing it, which I hope to be able to accomplish within the week).

I just wanted to express my appreciation for the offer. =)

I hate answering the door, but I will if it's for a delivery of books from Amazon. The excitement of having new books significantly outweighs the stress of answering the door.

I run to get the door when anything from Amazon arrives. Otherwise...cross my fingers and pray that they'll get tired of knocking, and go away.

I just try to avoid answering the phone when I can. Try to avoid the phone in general. I don't even own a cell phone anymore.

Answering the telephone is no big deal. Making a phone call, on the other hand... I have to wait until nobody else is around and take a deep breath in order to be able to call. As if it was something obscene or something...
Doesn't happen when I'm calling someone I know, though, unless it's someone I haven't talked to in ages (like the dentist, who happens to be my cousin's wife, and now their son too).

As for Amazon... I buy lots of DVDs from them, not so many books since books are heavier and that implies higher shipping costs. Now that I spend so many hours at work, I can't wait eagerly for the postman to arrive (I'm not at home during delivery hours), so instead I keep asking if he has delivered anything as soon as I arrive home. Or ask about it if they phone me from home.

I have often wondered what is it exactly that makes me uncomfortable on the phone. I know one thing is difficulty with the give and take of conversation, which does not not take place to the same degree IRL. Also, when calling businesses, I guess I dislike having to tell my story over and over to different people or getting put on hold, then having to start telling my story again from the beginning (that's the only way I can do it.)

Ah phone. I HATE them. Probably much because i find it hard to understand them and know what to say nd remember what they have told me. Esp when they tell me numbers or addresses and stuff i get confused alot and I think I probably sound like a child who doesn't know how to speak on a phone yet.

I *try* to think of it this way, as soon as its done, I'll stop worring about it. Well mostly. My other method isjust just ignore it untill the last minuet, this gets rid of the worrying part but then doing things at the last minuet is not good.
