Glider, it is a pleasure to read your posts. I collected pencils as a child too.
I almost shed a tear when you said 'music became your friend'. It's like that with me and my photography.
I used to walk around in patterns around my school too. I even counted each step it took to take me to a certain area.

DenvrDave---I appreciate your comments. That is indeed what I wish for---that the world become a better place.

Pensieve---It's good to hear from you again. When I think about music being my friend, I think of you and your photography. I am glad you shared about your pencil collecting and walking patterns---I find it interesting that although no two autistics are alike, there are things that many of us have in common.

I am going to start on Part Two: The College Years.
